Clannad – 17

Hey Totali, hey Totali….what’s your favorite love comedy? ……Clannad.

Summary:

Rei and the other members of the choir come up with a way for Komura to become the drama club’s advisor, but Nagisa finds that the solution is not possible when she attempts to propose this plan herself. Nagisa starts to lose her breath shortly after in the hall, so her friends quickly go to her aid. She turns out to be sick, so the girls and Tomoya take her to her house. The Furukawas thank the group for their help, but Tomoya cannot help but think that he was unable to do anything. The next morning, Tomoya is shocked to find Tomoyo waking him up. When Tomoyo mentions that she got permission from his father to enter, Tomoya can only be troubled. Tomoya wonders why he is the only one being dragged to school by Tomoyo, mentioning that there are others who are frequently late. This leads the two to Youhei’s house, who has an even greater reaction to Tomoyo’s appearance. The three make it to school after a few mishaps, but Kyou approaches Tomoya again shortly after.

Tomoya enjoys lunch with the Fujibayashi sisters later, and Kyou again pushes Ryou closer to Tomoya. Tomoya leaves the two after a small discussion about their future plans, and Kyou suggests that Ryou be more assertive. Ryou believes that this would be bad for Nagisa, but Kyou reminds her that Tomoya and Nagisa are not going out. Left alone afterwards, Ryou can only say the words “I’m sorry.” On the way out of school, Youhei wonders if Tomoya really isn’t going out with Nagisa. Tomoya states that he does not have any plans on having a girlfriend, when Tomoyo pops up to wonder why. After Tomoya gives his typical reasons, Tomoyo suggests that he go home with her. Some distance away, Kyou expresses her disappointment in Tomoyo getting to Tomoya first again.

Youhei leads Tomoya and Tomoyo through a street where most of the people fear Tomoyo. Tomoyo expresses her dislike of this place of her past, so Tomoya breaks Youhei’s plans by showing the two to a coffee shop. With this, Tomoya makes it so that Youhei and Tomoyo are friends. Tomoyo thanks Tomoya afterwards, realizing that he was only helping her out. She expresses the fun she has with him, before promising to see him the next day. Tomoya wanders past Nagisa’s house that night, but he puts on a disappointing face before moving on. Tomoyo wakes Tomoya again the next morning, confirming that she plans on doing this every day. The two visit Youhei again, getting into more mischief.

Tomoya sees the Fujibayashi sisters again at lunch time, ready to try Ryou’s dishes. However, Botan shows them the true horrors of the meal. Ryou apologizes afterwards, when Botan comes back to life. Kyou takes the chance to leave her sister alone with Tomoya, but this only causes an awkward situation for the two. Alone in the clubroom later, Tomoya can only think of Nagisa. He sees Yukine after awhile, who has a prediction type game for him to play. After being unconvinced of this game’s effectiveness, Tomoya asks Yukine what she thinks of the current student council. Yukine believes that it could operate more effectively with a new head, bringing up the upcoming elections. Remembering that Tomoyo is a candidate, Tomoya believes that there will be good news for Nagisa upon her return.

Tomoya is forced to help Kyou tidy some gym supplies outside, but the two inconveniently become locked in the nearby locker. Remembering Yukine’s prediction from earlier, Tomoya quickly apologizes. This gives Kyou the wrong idea, however, as she believes that Tomoya has other intentions. This causes a troubling atmosphere even after Tomoya attempts to explain himself, as Kyou finally reveals the obvious plans she had for her sister. Tomoya makes the situation worse in his panic by taking off his shirt, but the two are interrupted by another student who opens the door to call on Kyou. Tomoya properly explains himself to Kyou afterwards, and Tomoyo appears to walk home with him right after.

Tomoya begins to question Tomoyo about her student council position, but the two are interrupted by the thugs from the previous day. Tomoyo beings to confront them, but Fuuko-sama makes a beautiful entrance once again. After she leaves, Youhei appears to help as well. Tomoyo doesn’t allow him to interfere as she begins to fight against the thugs who charge towards her, but the conflict is stopped when some of the students’ superiors appear. Tomoya takes all of the responsibility for the ruckus before Tomoyo can say anything, making Tomoyo worry.

Preview: Tomoya gets put in more stereotypical situations, and more Botan action!

Impression:

Nyoro~n. So I’m pretty sure Botan is the most moe out of every character in Clannad. You Tomoyo and Kyou fans are basically all wrong. Also, every time I see Fuuko-sama make another appearance, my faith in Clannad is brought back. Anyways, this episode was really funny, if not completely random at points (the last scene for example). It was pretty convenient for Nagisa to get sick in the very beginning of the episode, leaving Tomoya to build up his supa harem in her absence. Tomoyo was really cute in her super cheerful mode, though I’m really wondering about this sudden character change. I still find Youhei’s absolute fear of her quite hilarious. Kyou’s locker scene was probably the highlight of this episode for most fans, and I have to admit that I definitely laughed out loud at that. Kyou should just lay off, cause even Ryou realizes that the only person Tomoya has on his mind is Nagisa! I would rant on about the direction Kyoani is taking with this, but I’d rather work on some of my school work right now. Besides, there should be plenty of posts about that soon – complete with millions of screenshots of Kyou and Tomoyo.

Poor Botan, first sound attack, then intoxication, next time will be the oven.
    lol. tomoya &
” ” “o pairing (hypothetical, of course) is weird; their names are too similar. I and my sister have similar names and we always get confused ‘cuase my sister’s name can be compressed to “alex”: “mom: dinner is ready!”, “Alex(x2):OK!”. just imagine if they have kids: “Grandma: dinner is ready!” “Tomoya (x2) & Tomoyo (x2): OK!”.

I played the game and even had a choice to choose Kyou when experimenting with Yukine’s magic, but I didn’t choose it in fear of accidentally switching routes mid way, resulting in a bad end.

    WHY DIDN’T I CHOOSE KYOU?

Wow, this episode is golden. The best ever so far. Kyou is my favorite character and Tomoyo is my second one. When you combine those two into one episode, it’s like gift from heaven. Thank you, Kyoani XD

Kyou’s scene with Tomoya in storage room was really damn funny. Tomoyo’s personality has change quite a bit make her even more attractive. Well, too bad for them because Tomoya’s mind is all about Nagisa. Sigh, poor Kyou and Tomoyo. Oh yeah, Totali, Fuko was great too (almost forgot her). LOL.

Happy late Chinese New Year, Totali. Good luck with your school stuff. I’ll try to do the same as well.

Well, Kyou’s in a predicament… on one hand, she’s supposed to be supporting her sister. On the other hand, during the storage room scene, it’s not like that she was that opposed…

In other words, she likes Tomoya too, so she doesn’t really want Nagisa to win, which is why she’s pushing so hard… yet at the same time, eventually she’d butt heads with her sister over him. Of course, I doubt any of that’ll actually happen in the anime…

Another reason why Kyou should lay off: you know when someone does something of which nothing they do will ever take back what they did? How there is no way to unshit a bed? Sorry, but as far as anyone is concerned, Ryou is still gay. She may boil like a teakettle whenever she gets near Tomoya, she nose can erupt geysers of blood at every thought of him, it cannot erase the “confession” she had with Nagisa. In fact, she was worried about Nagisa’s feelings in this episode, wasn’t she.

But still, if Tomoya plays his cards right. . .

Tgis was an excellent episode. I love the climax when Tomoya and Kyou were trap in the PE room. I kept on laughing when Kyou keeps on misunderstanding what Tomoya says.lol. To me it was like Kyou were confessing her true feelings and desire. Tomoyo also is looking really cute back there. I hope they show some more interesting things in the next episode.

Eh. I’m kind of mad at Clannad. The only character I care about isn’t even going to be featured in the anime and instead have the stupid-looking movie based on her! Somebody needs to slap the animators at Toei.

But otherwise, Kyou looks very moe in the preview.

well he wasn’t gonna as emo as we all thought he would be but pretty close! XD
Dammit. now that tomoyo is hanging out with tomoya, I just can’t help but think of KyoAni to make an OVA of Tomoyo After: It’s a Wonderful Life. I mean its on my mind everytime i see her.

Hella funny the two scenes when Sunohara was being woken up.
Pretty nice poster of Tomoyo’s fist up (common was that nice or what?)
WTF?! Kyou was actually gonna let Tomoya do it?! You should of had the chance! (btw did anyone love the bgm of the gym scene? that was a nice song. XD)
And what the heck is up with Fuko appearing again?! I’m sorry but i am starting to get tired of her comming out of nowhere and just be random.

Ah, your “just as planned” comment earlier suddenly makes a lot more sense.

‘Also, every time I see Fuuko-sama make another appearance, my faith in Clannad is brought back’….erm…in what sense?
It just seems really random and odd for Fuuko to show up unexpectedly and…well…make little impact on the plot. Somehow, it also gives KyoAni an opportunity to recycle her ‘popping-in’ scene.

Lol. Sunohara is pure win. He never fails to amuse me. My tummy almost hurt too much at the storage room scene. It somehow reminded me of the misunderstandings at Minami-Ke. That charm was just too much of a coincidence! xD Kyou confirmed to have a crush on Tomoya as well. xD

  13. The Flame Wizard February 13th, 2008 1:57 am

Geh hahahaha. It’s so exciting seeing Kyou go berserk in her minds after being locked up with Tomoya. It’s so exciting seeing Kyou go berserk in her minds seeing her way of reacting to him. And! The win – is when Tomoya dispelled the charm (LOL shocking shirt rips!)

And the series’ next miracle spell – tons of LMAO.

Tomoyo’s part is nice too. XD damn Tomoya should feel lucky because practically no girl would come to a guy’s house to wake him up! And one with… what Sunohara says about her body would be what I’d say. ARGH, TOMOYA! GIVE ME ALL YOUR GIRLS ALREADY!
