Minami-ke: Okawari – 10

This episode was mediocre, and I want to play Smash Bros.

Summary:

Haruka walks home with Atsuko and Maki after buying quite a bit of groceries. The girls’ conversation is interrupted by a strong breeze, and Maki unfortunately breaks some of the eggs they bought in the process. Haruka states that she will buy more later, however, and not to worry about it. Kana has a conversation with the girls about Atsuko’s interests when they reach the apartments. Atsuko eventually leaves to use the bathroom, while Maki learns that a stray cat has been coming to the apartments from time to time. Even when Atsuko returns, she does not notice the cat as it hides around the room. While Chiaki teaches Atsuko some tsukomi comedy lines, Kana continues to have discussion with Maki. Chiaki accidentally misunderstands a word while she is listening in on the conversation, causing her a lot of embarrassment. Kana continues to tease Chiaki when Haruka returns for dinner, but also emphasizing the flower viewing they now have planned. Haruka decides to invite Fuyuki, but Chiaki does not believe he will come. Kana returns claiming that Fuyuki has agreed to, however, surprising Chiaki a bit.

At school, the Minami sisters explain to their friends what they will be doing. Kana is particularly enthusiastic about inviting everyone. After everyone gathers later, different jobs are decided for three groups. Kana and most of the girls visit the supermarket for supplies. Fujioka, Touma, Mako-chan, and Fuyuki search for the location. Haruka, Atsuko, and Maki prepare food in the apartments, later running into trouble with Hayami who visits. Kana and the girls eventually meet with the others at the planned location, but they find that Haruka still has not arrived. Kana goes back to the apartments to find out what is wrong, but realizes what Hayami has done when she enters the living room. Kana escapes back to the group, dropping off the gifts of juice that Hayami presented to her. Chiaki does not think Kana has done well, so she heads to the apartments herself. Walking outside, Fujioka passes by Hosaka. Back at the apartments, Kana finds that Chiaki is drinking one of Hayami’s drinks. The rest of the group is drunk, except for Fuyuki who is now worried about what to do.

On a rainy day, Chiaki has ramen specially prepared for herself. When Kana returns home from the cold, Chiaki prepares the bath for her. Chiaki returns to find Kana eating her ramen, however, losing her strength in sadness. Kana leaves the room after seeing her sister’s reaction, coming back with more ramen. The two enjoy themselves greatly afterwards, even convincing Haruka to have a cup when she returns.

Preview: The usual.

Impression:

….what?

I’m really not sure what to say about this episode. It was a lot like many from the first season, but the subtle humor just didn’t come off as funny to me as usual. There were a lot of jokes centered around Chiaki’s mistaking “hanami” with “harami” and cutting through conversations for a fun effect, but for the most part, it somehow felt like they forced some manga chapters into animation with weak results. Hayami appearing to cause chaos was pretty fun, but this just wasn’t the laugh out loud Minami-ke I have been used to. My favorite part was actually the end, with the heartwarming story of ramen. One thing I did notice was the large use of cultural references, which I actually felt pretty good about knowing about. Things like the tsukomi acts probably wouldn’t have been as humorous if I came in without knowing anything about them. I’m hoping the rest of the episodes until the end will be a lot more fun. Until then, I’ll be busy with other things…

Just came back from the lineup for Smash Bros. This episode was mediocre… but it had drunk Haruka, and Bible Black face Mako-chan… which was weird. The inclusion of Fuyuki automatically took away the title of ‘could’ve been awesome’ from the episode. But… drunk Uchida reminds me of Kana, somehow – maybe it’s the narrowed eyes.

At least the old-fashioned eyecatches are back.

Hey Totali! I’m a girl now!!! (I believe that was last episode though…)

soooo…..DID YA GET THE GAME YET??? WANNA TRADE FRIEND CODES??? I’ve tried random online play, and it was really laggy (4 player match) but hopefully, one on ones will be as smooth as butter! :D =3

I don’t have my code on hand atm, and I’ve got to get an adapter so I can play at the dorms. I tried the online when I was at home, and the lag really wasn’t that bad at all. I’ve been playing the SSE and trying to get the unlockables asap lol. Need Sonic! T.T

GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! SONIIIIIIIIIICSS INNNN BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWLLLLL!!!… er… i mean, I’ve been playing just a few matches with my bro, and already we’ve unlocked Ness, Luigi, and Marth (and we did that 100 man brawl so he would stop complaining about not having Falco -_-). It seems alot easier to get the characters, but what I WII-LY (*ba dum pshh*) want are the unlockable songs. Seriously, did you hear the complete soundtrack? LIKE, OH EM GEE *fangasms!!* The gamecube controller is the best option, if your a veteran, but with adjustments to the Classic controller, it feels right at home (the wiimote-nunchuck style is alittle funky, still need to adjust that more)

    Whenever your available:

Just give me a call *winks* (i’m so glad that all we need is the Smash number and not the Wii number! SO MANY NUMBERS!!!)

BRAWLLLLLLLLLLL BABY I need to play more, but I have a review of it to write and some homework =(

  6. Totali March 9th, 2008 11:33 pm

It’s easiest to unlock most of the characters through the SSE. You can co-op too. lol, I’ve got class tomorrow and a lot of assignments I should have been doing over spring break….but yea…Maybe I should have wrote a post about the game instead of hijacking a minami ke post…..maybe later…

I’d also like to note that there were only 5 people at the midnight release I went to. lol.

    Guess they aren’t using Vista.

I saw Brawl at a Gamestop (plenty of copies, no one was buying them), and it was hard to see much of a difference in this new version. Of course the two people playing were really crappy so it was hard to get a feel for subtle differences. I saw that Falco’s reflector seems to have better range now, and I also saw Falco turn into a tank and get stuck in a Hyrule pit (lol…). However, online mode sounds badass if they can fix latency issues.

I find it sad that the most hyped part of the game (SSE) I barely touched. I guess when you see all those spoilers, its not as appealing as it used to be (but oh em gee, when I first saw Diddy vs. RAYQUAZAAA??? WHAT??!!! O_O!)

Speaking of midnight releases, I hate how Nintendo seems to always (well, recently) release their heavy hitters on Sundays! Most of the stores near me don’t bother to do midnight launches, plus, most are closed on sundays :(

I also hate how everyones spring break is different. Mine is next week, my bros two weeks from now, some of my friends had it two weeks ago. Looks like I’ll be brawlin (BALLLIIINNN!!!) alone for a while :(

Currently stuck in the maze in SSE…..going to sleep T.T

lol I think most of us have been stuck on youtube and the Smash site for the past month or more…there are actually a lot of balance changes with most of the characters, not to mention all of the new ones who are going to take awhile to get used to.

lol my circle of friends’ spring breaks are totally messed up too. Some of ours have just ended, some are starting next week, etc.

In this episode, the word “harami” does not mean pregnancy.
It comes from a “yakiniku” (grilled beaf).

My bad. See what happens when I have other things on my mind? x3

    ….thanks for that. =)

You know, this seems to suggest that Kana remembers episode 13’s events rather… vividly.

… and that Hayami-senpai remembers them fondly too:
