@Arkadian: I believe Meru’s way of dying is a reference to Sailor Moon, not Saint Seiya, because of Meru’s dress(which looks like Sailor Moon’s in the future when she is frozen and the sailors look out for her or something).

I got all the Tanabata part jokes because its in the manga [Entropy] has translated so far. How lucky~

Even with the first part being an parody of a film I still found it very interesting and amusing to watch. I wish I knew what they were talking about, but your blog at least gives me an idea of what’s going on, so thanks! The second part was definitely a riot, but it felt kind of short. Hmm, maybe it’s because the first part of the episode lasted fifteen minutes? Either way, this episode certainly delivered. I hope the last episode will be on the same level as this episode, because it’s my favorite episode so far. The animation was also excellent and that was a plus for me on how great this episode was.

I’m pretty sure you’re right on that, considering they were talking about anime style deaths (Kaere’s eva death)….I just wouldn’t know because I haven’t watched either of those anime xD.

I might be wrong here, but in the first part, the way Meru died was a reference to Hyoga’s mother (Saint Seiya/Knights of the Zodiac), while the way Maria died was a reference to Raoh’s death (from Hokuto no Ken/First of the North Star).
