Aria the Origination - 12
Happy cartoon overload!!!
Summary:
Winter approaches in Neo Venezia, and Akari now only practices with Aika. Akari mentions to Aika that it somehow feels like the days when they first met, energetically hoping to become primas together. Aika is only able to apologize that she will no longer be able to practice with Akari anymore, but Akari becomes very excited and congratulates Aika when she discovers that she no longer has one glove on her hand. Aika is relieved at Akari’s reaction, but she has one more thing to tell her. Memories are brought up from Aika’s promotion, which was a tearful event for both her and Akira. Akari happily announces the news to Alicia at the Aria Company, revealing that Aika’s name would be the Rozen Queen. Alicia recalls Akira’s feelings about this event, and Akari further reveals the new duties Aika has at Himeya. After a bit of a pause, Alicia announces that Akari’s prima exam would be the next day. Akari is unable to sleep from anticipation, so she decides to go out and practice that night. Akari meets Akatsuki while rowing through the canals, who wishes her luck after hearing the news. After a bit more trouble with Akatsuki and Woody, Akari finally returns to the Aria Company.
It rains the next day, so Alicia suggests that they delay the exam. As she has always been waiting for this day, however, Akari suggests that it is okay as long as the weather clears up. When the rain finally stops, Akari and Alicia set off for the exam. As Akari takes Alicia throughout the city, they meet many of their acquaintances with happy faces. Alicia notices how skilled Akari has become, eventually showing her a narrow passage to enter. This is the narrowest passage Akari has ever faced, but she somehow does not feel worried at all. Closing her eyes for a moment, she realizes that it is because of the practice she experienced with her peers every day. Reaching the light at the end of the tunnel, Alicia presents Akari with her last course. Akari would choose her path, deciding what kind of prima she would like to become. When Akari finally reaches her goal, it is the Aria Company. The prima Akari would like to become is one like Grandma or Alicia. With this, Alicia describes how wonderful her world had become when Akari had appeared on Aqua. Calling her Aquamarine, Alicia removes the one glove from Akari’s hand. Akari celebrates her happiness now as a prima, but Alicia has one more important thing to talk to her about.
Preview: New beginnings.

Perfect and beautiful. What other kinds of words could I use to describe this episode? Honestly, I did feel kind of ripped off at how Aika’s promotion was presented in the beginning. The last episode might have been the real announcement of it, but it just seemed like we got nowhere close to the impact that Alice had. I absolutely loved the title of the Rozen Queen though, and with that, everything started falling into place. President Aria’s interaction with Akari was as hilarious as ever, and Akatsuki’s dropped item came off as some pretty weird comic relief. The scenes were spectacular when Akari toured Alicia through the city, and the Makino Yui insert probably made my day. It was great that they displayed one of Akari’s traits so well, being her ability to get along with everyone around her. When Alicia described Akari’s future paths I was pretty close to tears. Akari’s title of Aquamarine seemed kind of strange to me at first, but it made me remember the parallels to the stone she held before and the ED’s visuals. Next week is the last episode, and I will probably be crying for multiple reasons once it is all over.

i’m actually glad they even animated Aika’s promotion (well bits of it anyway). the girl’s pretty overlooked in the manga - no single or prima promotion shown!
found it rather hilarious how Akari got unnerved by the “OCHIru! OCHIrunda! OCHIta! OCHItsuita!” sequence. good thing they weren’t truly foreshadowing Akari’s test :3
Needs more H
@ Di Gi Kazune
This is all the H you need *wink wink nudge nudge*

Speaking of that H, OHHHH MAN!!! THERE IS DEFINITELY ARIA doujins, and a quick search at the /rs/ section of 4chan can finally fulfill those needs! (President Aria really IS a man, if ya know what I mean!!!! HYUK HYUK HYUK!!!… i will admit it was alittle creepy… seeing his thing and all…)
*sniff*
I don’t want Aria to end!
……not you guys again!
what can I say? Boys will be boys! *blush*
…
So close to being over, damn it. DAMN it.
Time to make sure I have some wine ready for this next week, when the end comes, to toast the show and the characters off to their better, brighter futures. Addio, Akari and company.
No, seriously… aria is too slow. Needs more action. The only slice of life show I managed to sit through was Piano, only because I can sit in through hours of piano music.
That’s the exact thing Hinano told me t.t!
Are you sure you’re not plotting against me? :O
Totali: Rule 32 of the Internet - anything that has ever been created… will have become porn for a small section of the fanbase.
Plot against you? >_> I’m still watching shana! What makes you think that? >_>
Yes, I agree Aria’s design is very nice, but there is a real reason why I don’t watch Aria apart from the slice of life slowness. I gave up standard slice of schoollife because it’s becoming all the same, ie, why I don’t watch clanude, da crappo, air, et al. Apart from the lack of H from the originals that is. Was going to try true tears until the reviews didn’t indicate anything really special. It takes something that isn’t “generic” to keep my attention onto a series. H2O is okay, Hamaji is the only real reason I watch sporadically after the Hinano review. It’s the reason why come spring, the watchlist is completely empty. For the first time in… 8 years. Ie, Time to watch all the Kamichama DVDs. (yes, I bought them.)
Which brings up… Touka Gettan. So non-standard that it’s interesting to watch.

OH FUCKING HELL! -_- I just noted that someday’s dreamers has a second season.
- END BREAKING NEWS -
…… that show is even slower than aria. I stopped after watching episode 1, downloaded but never watched episode 2. You have a bunch of magi… wait… not bunch… A HELL LOT of Magi and they never take over the world and enslave the mundanes. -zzzzzz- I rather rewatch Babylon 5. At least you can see better tension between the telepaths and mundanes.
Anyway, away from the spontaneous rant, I’m picky about what I watch, even though I know some are crap.
I guess I’m the opposite, since I’ll basically watch anything orz.
Also, Touka Gettan is one of my favorite anime evar…..yet nobody else liked it =(.
The New Adventures of Lilith with Hazuki and Ken-cha… waitaminute… isn’t this supposed to be Trappu Getta?
I noticed everyone is saying how slow this anime is…I don’t think it is slow at all. I think you have a better impact if you were to watch all three in order since it will give you the better feel of the moment. You have to appreciate the simple things that go on in this anime as it does show that trait in all the series in Aria.
