Friday Review, Spring ‘08

There are actually some offerings on Friday for this season, but unfortunately, none of them are that spectacular. I’d say I was let down, but I wasn’t really expecting that much from these shows in the first place. Looks like I’ll be going psgels/hinano style on this one, since I had no intentions of fully covering any of these series anyways.

Druaga no To the Aegis of Uruk: Ska, Yui Horie moaning to tentacle rape, and dragons….can Gonzo pull it off? This show has been getting pretty good reviews around the community, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to jump the bandwagon. I did laugh a few times though, especially during the Nico Nico and Gurren Lagann parodies. Even more interesting, episodes are being released subbed officially on streaming platforms such as youtube at broadcast speed. No need for fansubs? I’m more concerned about the future of episodic bloggers!!! Anyways, this isn’t the type of show I’d cover even if i did decide to follow it. There’s not much of a point to anyways.

Amatsuki: Talk about a let down. This show was standing out as one that had some of the best art during previews, but that aspect of the show was actually bothering me all throughout this episode. Needless to say, it’s not really impressing me coming from DEEN. Fukuyama Jun and Paku Romi playing main roles is something to take note of, but that’s not enough to save the series from the really boring plot that’s been set up.

Itazura na Kiss: I was actually planning on covering at least the first episode of this, but I backed out last minute. First of all, the art in this show was horrible. Giant chins and ugly character designs galore, it looked like like everyone was a clone of that side character from Initial D. The one saving grace may have been Mizuki Nana playing the lead role. Hirakawa Daisuke’s playing Naoki will have me cracking Nice Boat jokes without end though. I’ve had enough of romance shows recently, and it’s been way too long since I’ve watched shoujo, so I’m definitely not ready to keep up with a show like this.

As for Thursdays, I have yet to check out Allison to Lillia and Kurenai. Those two shows just seem like the type I would marathon one afternoon rather than keeping up with them weekly. Besides, xxxHolic won the war before it even started and To Love Ru will probably be my second choice. I definitely won’t be checking out everything this season, but I’d thought I’d get my opinions out about what I do have time to watch. For OPs and screenshots, check Tenka Seiha.

The Tower of Druaga was hilarious though, but I do agree that there really isn’t a point in blogging it, but still~ Omni loves it, LOL!

I didn’t like Itazura na kiss and was thinking of covering one episode too, but yucky pictures.

Haven’t seen Amatsuki yet but I enjoy samurai stuff so I’m going to watch the first episode soon.

I kind of wish people would give Itazura na Kiss a chance instead of giving the “bad art” excuse.

Hmm.. I rather liked Itazura na Kiss and the art wasn’t as bad as people kept saying it was.
