Subculture Anime Blog

One Year Anniversary - A Stalker’s Work is Never Done.

Subculture at its finest.

With the evil dictator of an editorial blogger Owen celebrating his anniversary only three days earlier, I suppose my anniversary had to come today to balance the world with great justice. I feel kind of awkward for releasing this when the new season is still pumping out a few shows, but what can I do? This was when I decided to start my blog. I almost held this off for awhile, but I ended up finding enough time between class to dish out a half way decent post for the occasion. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the major events that have happened during this past year!

Blogs now on the stalking list: A hella lot.

I might have left out or forgot about some things during this past year, since I didn’t really have any notes to refer to while writing this post. With just a year of blogging, I’ve already seen a lot of community activities. Bloggers come and go, burnout happens, and drama is started. Subculture has grown tremendously, especially coming from something only meant to be a side hobby. But some things never change. I still go “kya~” when another blogger mentions me, I’m still too intimidated to post on blogs that get hundreds of comments on a regular basis, and I’m still in denial about the success this blog has received. As much as I love writing, I still see this website as a hobby. It’s impossible to deny that anime has taken a pretty big place in my life though. In my circle of friends, there are the movie buffs who have seen any film you can think of. I’m considered to be one of those, except for anime. The only problem is, it’s impossible to find others who watch current anime in the States! I guess that’s why I enjoy this so much. Being able to express my thoughts and interacting with people that have similar hobbies just makes my day.

And of course, it is that interaction that keeps me going. Even though I started this blog as a personal project, and still go into writing with this mindset, I probably wouldn’t have made it this far if it wasn’t for the community and those who have enjoyed my presence. From those I have met in IRC, to those who stand out in the blogsphere, and to those I have more recently interacted with in the ABC, I’ve had a ton of fun stalking everyone hanging out with everyone in the virtual community that is the internet. Then of course, there are the visitors that have stuck with my blog and enjoyed it throughout this past year. Some of you have even kept up since the beginning, which is just amazing to me. You all know who you are. This is a big shout out to everyone, so let’s hope for more fun in the years to come.

    FIRST. In before timeline!

Glad that all that angsting about university holding you down didn’t come to fruition, and that this rampant flaunting of love power is still going strong. Grats on one year.

    >> Totali takes Anime Blog ga Arimasu’s 2,000th comment and receives prize. C…..can I call you sempai??

Good times. That was probably the most research I ever put into a single post, ever.

Anyways, congrats on one year of blogging, may your inspiration to write and comment stalk the anime community never wane.

  5. Ryan A April 12th, 2008 1:39 pm

PASHA PASHA UUU! Hey yes, congrats! I guess I was just stopping my days in #ab when you came, no wonder appeared to me out of thin air. Cheers cheers and many beers to many more entries of lulz and boobz.

“Totali Hits in America”… Dude, I love it.

  7. Deranged April 12th, 2008 1:53 pm

A year… it’s been a year already!? I remember seeing you start off… confusing me with your understanding of Touka Gettan which reminds me, I should actually watch that in its entirety…. and you making up nearly half of the total comments on my blog… Stalking indeed >_

  8. Rentington April 12th, 2008 2:08 pm

Oh, and I agree about people watching current anime in America.

I go Jap-lit class, and there are kids who totally think liking anime and japan is part of their identity. They wear Anime shirts, hachimaki that probably read “serial rapist” in kanji, and are a part of the Anime and Manga society at college. They are all poseurs. They watch dubbed stuff from 4 years ago, and have never heard of Gurren Lagann, teh hotness from last year. I thought a lot of anime fans followed fansubs! In reality, there aren’t that many of us.

  9. Aroduc April 12th, 2008 2:17 pm

If we absorb Hinano into the hivemind, then we can change to HAT, and from there, the sky’s the limit.

  10. Impz April 12th, 2008 2:49 pm

And find another nice T guy for THAT? even better.

Anyway, first year anniversary banzai, ze grand meister!

  11. Zeroblade April 12th, 2008 2:55 pm

“Ex-fansubber + Erojiji + Shota”? Dare I ask what this will result in?

  12. Totali April 12th, 2008 3:21 pm

Pssh, Impz trying to recruit people AGAIN.

Spring ‘08: Hinano ruins Totali for marriage.

  23. Owen S April 13th, 2008 4:19 am

Congratulations, my (self-proclaimed) rival! Happy one year anniversary, and may we continue blogging till the glorious motherla- I mean, till the end of time or something. Love the way in which you laid out the timeline; now you need to retcon your past using the Cassiopeia. Gogogo!

  24. Taka April 13th, 2008 6:05 am

I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now and i really am entertained especially the way you and arudoc play off each other.

Also! I play on Spinebreaker….AND am currently in Phantom Elite. I remember your HWL grind. I hit 60 on my first character about the time you hit HWL.

And yeah, is there anything more nerdy than saying you know someone from World of Warcraft on an anime blog.

  25. usagijen April 13th, 2008 6:28 am

Congrats on your first year my cute little brother! nyahaha :3

  29. TheBigN April 13th, 2008 3:11 pm

“The only problem is, it’s impossible to find others who watch current anime in the States!”

Wonder who you’re talking about here? You aren’t alone. :o

Congratulations on your first year. I actually thought you were older than this myself. :P

  30. Garten April 13th, 2008 4:47 pm

  31. Hinano April 14th, 2008 11:18 am

    Sorry I missed this. I was out of town Saturday and when I came back I thought my head was gonna burst x_x;;
Congrats on the 1 year! With many more to come :)

  32. Hinano April 14th, 2008 11:21 am

P.S. I feel left out of your time line. :\

  33. Totali April 14th, 2008 12:23 pm

Taka: Wow, that is amazing. It must be fate! Quite honestly, I had an awesome time while playing that game. I just decided I needed my time to do other things =\. Tell WnL “hi” if he’s still around…along with all those other cool peeps. If you see any noobfaces named Iceninja, Killamic, Kleric, or Crowen…those are my RL friends….they’re nubs.

TheBigN: I’ve never met someone IRL that has kept up with current anime…unless it’s Bleach. People on teh internetz don’t count!

Hinano: Haha, I originally had you in like three more places, like with the fated meeting through mushroom cocks around the same time I met Aroduc and what I mentioned earlier in the comments. I thought it would be too random though and would kill some of the jokes xD. Oh, but you just got added again cause you got my 4,000th comment….er, and 4,001.

I should probably actually start doing something about those one day….

EDIT: Oh screw it…those days were hilarious. I went ahead and put them back in.

  34. Hinano April 14th, 2008 12:32 pm

    My headache was fate!

  35. Di Gi Kazune April 14th, 2008 2:08 pm
