To Love-Ru - 03
It’s okay if you’re naked.
Summary:
While with her on the school rooftop, Rito frustratingly wonders why Lala is there as a student. Lala simply suggests that she wanted to be by Rito’s side, further explaining that she was easily accepted when she asked permission from the principal. Rito gets to the point by warning Lala not to reveal that she is an alien, and Peke agrees that this would be the best course of action. Lala does various outstanding things during the school day, making Rito scold her for standing out afterwards. Lala does not believe she did anything, but she then promises to do her best with a few items in hand. While Rito frustratingly wonders about Lala in the halls, he passes by Haruna who has had her own things on her mind. Haruna almost leaves in belief that Rito is busy, but he quickly stops her for the chance to talk. Rito attempts to come up with a conversation while with Haruna later, but the only thing he can ask is what she thinks of Lala. Haruna expresses how wonderful of a person she thinks Lala is, suggesting that she knows how Rito could have come to like her. Rito is shocked when Haruna implies how fitting Lala is with him, but Lala shows up to drag Rito home before he can say anything else.
When Lala and Rito reach home, Mikan suggests that they go out the next day to help Lala get familiar with the world. Rito finds that Lala stands out too much in her regular outfit while they are out later, so she attempts to change into many different kinds of clothing. When Lala picks one that Rito and Mikan can finally agree on, she quickly drags Rito away to play. The group enjoys themselves around many places in the city, eventually arriving in front of a crane game. Lala sees a stuffed animal that she likes, so Rito impresses her by successfully retrieving it. The three wonder where they should go next, but Rito and Mikan panic when they see that Lala’s clothes have started to fall apart. This is due to Peke’s loss of energy. Rito and Mikan quickly drag Lala through the city, until reaching a store to hide her and buy new clothing. Rito is able to experience a bit of relief, but this does not last long when he sees that Haruna is in front of him.
Mikan is able to explain to Haruna that they were showing Lala around the city afterwards, while Lala sees an aquarium sign not too far away from their location. Lala excitedly expresses her want to go to the aquarium after learning what happens inside, inviting Haruna to come along with them. Once reaching the aquarium, Lala quickly becomes excited about what she sees. Haruna takes the chance to apologize to Rito, but he insists that it is fine. Mikan easily sees through her older brother’s obvious actions, deciding to leave him alone with Haruna to search for Lala. Rito nervously tries to find something interesting to do while alone with Haruna, but Haruna grabs onto his shirt before he can lead her anywhere. Meanwhile, Lala uses alien pills on some fish that she does not believe look very energetic. What Haruna wants to tell Rito is that, although she believes Lala is a great person, Rito is also kind. She brings up the care that Rito did for the plants in middle school, making him realize that she believed him. Rito further realizes that this was because Haruna was watching him, when Haruna prepares to tell him something.
Elsewhere, an aquarium employee panics at the sight of fish out of the water. When Lala learns that the fish cannot live without water, she decides that the problem would be solved if she simply added water with one of her devices. As an unnecessarily large amount of water begins to fill the room, Lala decides to take a swim as well. However, the manager is quick to remind her that swimming is done while naked. Haruna prepares to express her feelings to Rito, and he does the same. He is not given a chance to, however, as the two see a naked Lala riding towards them in a wave. As Rito and Haruna continue to run, water floods the tall building they are in. On the way home, everyone confirms to each other that they enjoyed themselves. Rito is at the top of his mood when he meets Haruna the next morning, but this is all ruined when he trips and falls face first into various parts of her body.
Preview: Aliens and food.
Impression:
What is this? Umisho? Man, this show is hilarious. What a perfectly placed faceplant into the pantsu! Anyways, it looks like this series will be going into the standard harem direction, since the main rival for Lala basically confessed her feelings already. Though, looking at the preview, there may be quite a bit of Haruna action before more characters are introduced. The first part of the episode didn’t last nearly as long as I thought it would, but it was pretty standard all around. I’m really curious as to how people don’t suspect anything when Lala has a freaking tail (it’s not even feel good tail). The city wanderings were pretty fun too, and it was really funny how they managed to place necessary fanservice in the correct every spot. The insert song was just the ED, but I guess it fit pretty well with everything. There were two things to note about the aquarium segment of this episode. One: Who the hell was that nude enthusiast guy? He was awesome! Two: The usual cut off confession was, and always has been, great (Do it…..noooooo!). Lala and Haruna are both growing on me with their respective personalities, but Mikan’s sly attitude still has me won over. The next episode looks as over the top as ever, so I’m really not sure what to expect. Well, you know….besides boobs.

That is nasty. You saved this on purpose didn’t you?
Oh, good. We were running short of series with face plants.
before embarking on this wtfudge adventure with ToLoveRu, I already foreseen that both Lala and Haruna will be growing on me… now I’m stuck with this abonimable show! :p only time and backlogs will tell if I’ll be able to keep up with this series XD
*abominable.
p.s. having the edit comment plugin will be great for dyslexics like me.
What I liked about the manga was how clueless everyone was about Lala being an alien. No-one has a normal reaction to finding out. Rito has the most realistic one really and I lold for it.
This show is really growing on me… XD
I can’t stand fanservice but the animation looks really hot in this anime! Yet, I must, resist, temptation …!!
Haha, I’m glad that you like this show, Totali. However, I will say it again that the manga version is much better. The anime put too much filler stuff to just fill up the episode. Also, it seems like the next episode is going to be a filler based on what I see from the preview since I remember everything in manga. I read 95 chapters of this manga in one day and I love it so if you have a chance you should read it, Totali. It’s concise, funny and quite a lot of fan-service (more than the only that they show in anime) XD.
It is a ‘feel good’ tail, if you are meaning what I think you are meaning;D I mean which anime have you seen that the tail has not been ‘feel good’ and just a tail?
“Who the hell was that nude enthusiast guy? He was awesome!” Well, it’s filler crap that is not in manga but if you enjoy it. That’s great then XD. “Two: The usual cut off confession was, and always has been, great (Do it…..noooooo!). ” Well, the manga version is much shorter and funnier. That’s all I have to say. I’m not sure that answer your question, Totali. I just tried to help. Also, I really like Lala too but Haruna is the one that growing on me the most. You got to read the manga, man !!
It IS a standard harem romance, with more slapstick and more ecchi. It’s a lot of filler, but I guess it could be worse. Like say… Rosario and Patsu.
What this series needs is more Naru Punches, then it would be a cookie-cutter harem (since I have NOT been watching the series, if the harem lead has in fact been abused for his perversion, both real and imagined, then disregard)
That (punches for mostly imagined perversion) is sprinkled liberally through the manga. It happens to be one of the draws - slapstick humor. If they stay true (or at least to the spirit) of the manga, we should see more of Rito getting abused by everyone but Lala - she just gets him into bad situations, or gets him injured through malfunctioning inventions.
I’d still say Umisho was one of the best fanservice shows I’ve watched in a while, but ToLoveRu is a worthy watch. It seems to get better every ep, which is sorta rare with fanservice shows.
Bunny girls tempted me to watch this wreck but then I continued on and not even bunny girls could do it for me.
Shame on me for thinking there would be one, just ONE anime confession that would be early in the series and not interrupted *Sigh*….
This episode was just too funny.. How many dresses did she go through anyway lol.. Looks like I’ll be watching this one till the end.. Oh an to kenshin514.. Yes the manga is a more interesting but giving both the manga and the anime a look is interesting too.. I like to see exactly what they change between the two an have discussions as to why they would do it.. But offcourse sometimes the differences aren’t always great.. Let us just hope they make up for it..
