Nabari no Ou - 03
Crying tears of blood.
Summary:
Having just seen Fuuma ninja fall to the ground, Raimei quickly asks one of them what has happened. The woman replies that the Kairoshu have entered, and that there is one monster among them. Kumohira notices how strange the woman’s wounds are while preparing to treat her, but the woman only begs for Raimei and the others to protect the village before losing consciousness. Many of the Kairoshu invade a now burning house, but they find that some of the ninja have escaped to the outside. One of the Kairoshu quickly begins taking out ninjas around the area, finally stopping the one that he has been searching for. This man, Yukimi, insists that there is nothing strange about a ninja using a gun in the 21st century, as he takes the scroll he is looking for from the lone Fuuma ninja before him. Elsewhere, Toujuurou assures his assistant that their plans would go smoothly because of a certain ninja among their dispatched group.
Yukimi prepares to leave with those around him, but they are interrupted by Raimei and the others who have appeared. As the two groups engage in battle, Yukimi counts out how many there are on the opposing side. Yukimi notices Miharu last, and the Fuuma ninja takes the scroll back while he is distracted. With this, Yukimi simply has the ninja named Yoite take care of him. Yoite easily catches up to the Fuuma ninja, using his technique to crush his opponent from the inside. Yukimi retrieves the scroll again, but he becomes shocked when Yoite states that the Shinrabanshou is among those behind them. Kumohira asks Raimei about Kotarou, so she replies that he is most likely out of the village. Otherwise, something like this would not have happened. Raimei prepares to regain the scroll which is very important to the Fuuma village, but Kumohira reminds her of the threat that is before them.
Kumohira has everyone run, but Yoite easily catches up to them. As Kumohira nullifies one of Yoite’s attacks, he has Kouichi and Raimei continue to run with Miharu. The group gets past the ninjas before them, but Raimei stops to finish some of them off. When Yukimi appears, Raimei quickly begins attacking him in hopes of finding out the location of a certain person. Kouichi also does well to take out those after Miharu and himself, as Raimei catches up to them. The two prepare to defend themselves when Yukimi appears again, but he soon leaves after stating that obtaining the Shinrabanshou was not part of the current mission. Miharu wonders about Kumohira afterwards, but Raimei and Kouichi make protecting Miharu a higher priority.
The three pass by Kumohira, but he warns them not to approach. Kumohira explains that Yoite uses a kinjitsu called “kira”, a forbidden technique that uses one’s own life force to make attacks. When Kumohira is shot down by one of Yoite’s attacks, Kouichi and the others quickly run to assist him. Kouichi and Raimei are easily taken out by Yoite, however, leaving only Miharu to stand against him. When Yoite blasts at Miharu, Kumohira quickly stands again to stop him. Yoite prepares to use his kinjitsu to kill Kumohira, but Miharu urges him to stop. Miharu begins to insists that he will go anywhere as he is the only one they are after. However, Kumohira exclaims him that their actions will have been in vain if this happens. Kumohira reminds Miharu of the contract he made with him before ordering him to leave, but Yoite again uses his kijitsu. Miharu lets out a large scream after seeing Kumohira suffer, resulting in a giant cat pushing Yoite out of the way. This turns out to be none other than Kotarou Fuuma, who reveals his true form in front of Miharu and Yoite.

Ow……OW!!! So this week’s episode was about the invasion of the Fuuma village, along with the introduction of Yoite. There were some awesome fights as expected, and I got really psyched watching Raimei swinging her sword around. Yoite’s awesome finger blasting actually didn’t come of as climactic as I envisioned it to be though. It was probably just the sound effects, since I was kind of expecting more of a bang. Still, I couldn’t help but cringe while watching things like Kouichi’s arm get twisted. Ouch. Anyways, if the OP and EDs aren’t obvious indicators, Yoite is going to play a pretty big role further down in the story. It’s going to be awesome seeing more of him, just because he’s so badass.
Yukimi was pretty cool for a bad guy too, especially with his funny explanation of ninjas using guns in this day and age. The ninja fights were pretty awesome in general, but honestly, seeing things like the rock hidden doors and stuff makes me laugh a bit. It’s in a good way though, especially with the general atmosphere this show usually gives off (aurabolt doesn’t seem to think so though. Everyone go flame him and tell him I sent you). As far as the seiyu for the new characters go, which I always feel like I need to check out, not much stood out to me despite the large track lists most of them had. I did laugh after finding out that Tamura Yukari plays the Shinrabanshou though. Maybe what Miharu wishes for is a starlight breaker.

Me too. I guess they played around a bit with Yoite’s ability in this episode. I was wondering before i watched this episode if they will show the more gruesome effect of Yoite’s kira (the ninja’s body snapping into 2 in the manga). But they didn’t. But the kira still was pretty effective in the anime.
Another great, solid episode.

Awesome ninja action aside, that moejitsu trick of Miharu is getting old very fast.
Ah, Kotarou wisely scares off the bad guys by taking the fearsome form a kitten. Tremble and weep, bad guys!
