Wagaya no Oinarisama – 03
Love rival!?
Summary:
Noboru assists his rushing brother while eating breakfast in the morning, making Ko and Tenko wonder what is going on. When Noboru explains that it is the start of the new semester, Tenko instantly becomes curious upon the mention of school. When Noboru arrives at school, he meets his friend Sakura. He assures her that nothing is wrong when she asks, but in reality, he is worried about Tenko and Ko being alone in the house. Ko struggles with her chores at home, while Tenko simply watches television. While pondering about school again, Tenko remembers that Miyako went there as well. When Toru returns home, he is forced to help Ko in the kitchen. Tenko takes the chance to ask about what goes on at school, so Toru explains to him that they go there to learn with other people. After hearing all of this, Tenko comes up with an idea.
After playing badminton at school that afternoon, Sakura approaches Noboru again to talk. She wonders if anything happened to him during the break, but Noboru obviously cannot tell her about the absurd things that did. Sakura attempts to come up with small talk like their new classes and the weather, but this only makes Noboru worry about what Tenko and Ko are doing again. The two are interrupted by another one of Noboru’s friends, who exclaims that there is a woman who is searching for Noboru. This of course turns out to be Tenko, who is currently showing off her skills to the badminton players around her. Noboru greets Tenko in his surprise afterwards, further asking where Ko is. Ko also accompanied Tenko and Toru to the school, further impressing the boys in the gym. Noboru scolds Tenko for her actions and tells her to go home with the others, but he changes his mind after Toru suggests that they will have hot cakes when they get back. Tenko further attaches herself to Noboru after he states that they can stay for the day, making Sakura worry about who she is.
Tenko excitedly rushes around the school while touring it with Toru and Noboru’s friends. While searching for Tenko, Noboru further explains falsely to Sakura that Tenko is a home stay student at their house. While watching Noboru search for Tenko, Sakura is only able to worry by putting alarming images in her head about Tenko. Sakura further wonders about Ko’s relationship with Noboru later, which results in even more ridiculous situations. In the meantime, Tenko decides that school is very fun after participating in various club events. Sakura attempts to start a conversation with Ko later, but she only becomes more confused after hearing what she does as the Takagami’s guardian.
Noboru finally finds Tenko as she follows some students outside, but he steps on a glowing symbol on the ground while going after her. This makes him fall into a hole, which Tenko senses. Sakura and Ko are unable to pull Noboru out of the ground, and are further surprised to see three grade school children show up to taunt them. When Tenko finally arrives, she quickly begins to send thunderbolts in the kids’ direction. The kids escape through the various holes they make, and Tenko is unable to hit them as they send piles of mud into her face. Tenko becomes extremely angry when the kids finally trap her in one of their holes, so she sends a great amount of power in their direction. This finally makes the kids reveal their true forms as moles, and they quickly disappear after Tenko’s threats. Sakura is extremely shocked at what she has seen in the aftermath, but Tenko quickly makes it so that she will not remember the events clearly as she heads home. Tenko wonders what they will do next, but Noboru finally makes her head home with him. Tenko expresses her wish to go to Toru’s school next while walking home, but Noboru quickly denies this. Sakura doesn’t believe she was able to learn anything about Tenko or Ko while walking home herself, but she again worries about what goes on between Noboru and Tenko while they are at home together.
Preview: Battle with some chick.
Impression:
Haha, this episode was great! I loved Sakura’s introduction, since she kind of brings that romantic comedy element in that I’ll never get tired of. The fantasies she had about Noboru and the girls was hilarious, especially when it got to Ko. I thought her voice sounded very familiar, and it turned out that she was played by Kano Yui who played Momoko in Sumomomo Momomo. I thought her voice fit perfectly, and I really loved the chibi faces she made. I’m still loving Ko’s ignorance about chores too, and the energetic female Tenko is always fun. I’m not sure if the mole kids were as exciting though. It was fun to watch Tenko throw some thunderbolts, but I kind of feel like most fights will become a sort of episodic thing. That’s a very minor complaint though, and I can’t wait to see more antics with the gang in the future. The preview makes it look like next week might be more action oriented, but I’m not really sure what to expect from the new girl who is showing up.

They look so funny! Man, I wish the subs would hurry up since episode 2 just got subbed and episode 3 raw is already out. Lucky you understand jap, I’m still in the process of learning about weather stuff!
Why is this series “gotten a write-off”? IMO this anime is much better than Kanokon, To Love RU and other fanservice heavy animes.
OMG! You’re blogging this! I’m so happy! I thought I was the only person in the world who actually liked this anime! This is so cool!
Anyway, I’m actually kinda feeling a vibe between Kou and Noboru. They’re kinda cute together… Although, I’ll still have to wait for the subs of this episode to check on the Sakura girl.
