MR. FROSTY!

Summary:

In the past, a young girl named Alisa had died. Opening the Togakushi’s forbidden scroll, Yae promised to avenge her. In the present time, Yae waits in a parking garage with Miharu. She realizes that he is troubled that he didn’t tell Kumohira about Yoite and the others, but Miharu only wishes she would stop reading into peoples’ hearts so much. Yae expresses how troubling Miharu seems to be, since what he is thinking and what he shows are so different. While on the topic of different kinds of people, however, images of Alisa flash through her head. Yae takes the chance to let Miharu go tell Kumohira of the current circumstances, but this isn’t the only message she leaves. A bit later, Yukimi expresses his surprise that Yoite had accompanied him. Directing Yukimi to the grounds below, Yoite shows that Miharu is there.

Making his way through security elsewhere, Kumohira states to himself that he will be killing for the Nabari no Ou’s sake. When he prepares to kill Mr. Frosty, however, he is interrupted by an attack by the Kairoshu who are holding Miharu hostage. Miharu takes the chance to state that Frosty’s body guards contained Yoite and Yukimi, but this is obviously too late. While Yukimi is absorbed in the ruckus, Miharu and Yoite take the chance to exchange information. Miharu wonders if he should hand over the Togakushi scroll if he were to receive it, but Yoite denies since they already have two. Yukimi realizes that Raimei and Kouichi are missing from the group, but Frosty’s assistants do not stop their escape. Yoite refuses to go after them, and Yukimi finds that Miharu has gotten to Kumohira’s side during his distraction. Miharu stands in the way of Yukimi, assuring Kumohira that no one would be able to kill him as long as he held the Shinrabanshou.

When Yae sees Mr. Frosty and the others leaving in the garage, she quickly decides to take action. In another flashback, she remembers what had caused Alisa’s death. Nowaki Hideo had promised that there was a new kind of medicine that might be able to save Alisa’s life, but he wanted to preform experiments beforehand. Without his knowledge, Yae had overheard his true intentions while he talked over the phone. Kumohira, Miharu, and the Kairoshu appear in the meantime, while Yae faces Hideo. When Kattou attempts to sneak behind him, Yoite easily senses and disables him. As Yae attempts to strike next, Miharu warns Yoite that she has the ability to read peoples’ hearts. Yoite uses his ability against Yae as she attacks, but she soon states that she has already read all of his thoughts.

Yoite panics at Yae’s proof that she can see through him, but Yae is worried herself in becoming absorbed. Yukimi realizes that Yae holds the Izura Shingan, but Yoite has already lost it before Yukimi can warn him not to kill her. Many of Frosty’s guard’s fall due to Yoite’s powers, but when Miharu stands in front of Yae to protect her, Yoite finally stops. Kumohira, on the other hand, also tries to stop Yae and make her realize what her actions are really bringing. Kumohira attempts to kill Mr. Frosty afterwards, but he fails because of naivety. Mr. Frosty points a gun at Kumohira, but he is quickly killed by Kouichi before he is able to shoot. Kouichi goes to Hideo next, using his abilities to make him believe that he was the one to kill everyone. This was all according to Yae’s plans.

Later, Yae assures Kumohira that they would receive the Togakushi scroll later. Kattou states that there is no need for this, however, as the real scroll is in his possession. Yae is shocked at this statement, when she realizes that she cannot read Kattou’s heart. Fuuma soon appears, revealing that this was all actually part of his own plan. Kattou had been working for him far before Yae, as his abilities allowed him to be a spy. With the scroll now in Fuuma’s possession, he leaves with Kattou as Yae falls into despair. As Yae prepares to leave by train later, she tells Kumohira and the others that she will not use the Izura Shingan any longer. Miharu wonders if she is okay with what has happened, but the train leaves before she can reply. Yae receives a phone call from the happy Fog Blue employees afterwards, but she can only attempt to hold back her tears as they wait for her return.

Preview: Raimei comes back! Oh…there’s some other samurai guy too.

Impression:

Haha, this show has just gotten ridiculous. Kouichi has Geass!? Fuuma sends out double agents!? I guess we should just get all of the silly stuff out of the way first. The engrish returned in this episode, and it was hilarious (DIE YOU BASTARD!), every time I see a garage fight scene I think of the Matrix, and I loved it when Yae did the “Ohohohoho” stance. Anyways, this episode tied up the arc that started last week, revealing quite a bit of stuff at once. We obviously learned of Yae’s motivations, but most of them ended up being pretty obvious. Personally, I’m more interested who the person Kumohira was talking to in his head was. Of course, this is definitely connected with his past with Miharu. And with Kouichi revealing the overpowered ability that he has (everyone seems to have one now), it’s only a matter of time before Miharu has to show off his. The manga showed that he could at least use some basic abilities very early on, but the anime seems to be holding off (or not including them at all) for some reason. As far as Miharu and Yoite helping each other out goes, I can only see the two as acting like kids playing some silly game. Their actions certainly weren’t very secretive in this episode. We’ll be introduced to another important character in the next episode. Now, who could this be?

It’s about time Raikou shows up. I’ve been waiting for him. XD

Hahaha, please stop the comparisons. It’s not like Code Geass has the exclusive rights to mind-controlling powers (or invented them for that matter XD). Anyways, Kouichi isn’t going to use that trick anymore, so no need to worry, at least about that. In this scene, the important thing to notice wasn’t the kind of power he used, but his coldness and overall suspicious behaviour.

That comment aside, I’m really happy this arc ended, because I found it somewhat pointless for the story(we won’t be seeing more of Yae), not especially interesting and not that well-executed. An the Engrish in the anime didn’t help at all to improve it. Ugh. However, starting now two other main characters will be introduced, and we’ll get to see some interesting developments (much more interesting than they seem to be at first sight, thankfully).

The anime is probably “holding off” showing Miharu’s abilities because they’re frankly not much to write home about. He can use some very basic skills and that’s that – he’s practically useless without the shinrabanshou. (Okay, by chapter 47 he’s apparently learned the teleportation trick.)
