Summary:

An alien lands in various places on the planet, but he continually finds that he has landed in the wrong places. Although the women are alerted in each area, they are surprised at how handsome the invader is. Rito meanwhile feels as if he has a cold in the morning, so Lala takes him to the school infirmary. When she finds that the nurse is not there, she attempts to help Rito herself. The school nurse, Mikado Ryouko, arrives to finally help Rito soon afterwards. In class, Saruyama takes the chance to tell Rito how many people are attracted to Mikado-sensei. Even the principal visits Mikado for a check up to get closer to her, though she easily prevents him from jumping on her. Rito continues to feel chills later, but this time, the alien successfully lands in Lala’s vicinity. Lala does not remember meeting the alien in the past as usual, but her memory is slightly refreshed when he states that he is from the planet Kirasei. After the alien introduces himself as Pikari, he seems to leave. However, his crashing back on Earth sends Rito away. Pikari attempts to take Lala away with his rocket suit, but she easily escapes. Afterwards, she and Peke attempt to find Rito.

Pikari cannot make his suit operate later than night, making him powerless against those who offend him. When he remembers the promises he left his parents with, he is put to tears. When Pikari meets Ren during one of his runs, he begs for his help. Believing that a man would not leave someone so troubled behind, Ren promises to assist Pikari. When Rito expresses how cold he is inside his house later, Lala realizes that Pikari is approaching. Before Pikari can get close to Lala in his now working suit, she smacks him away with one of her devices. Despairing again, Pikari remembers the wishes his siblings had for him before took off on his journey. When Zastin finds Pikari in his wounded state, he directs him to a location to find help. Pikari is surprised to see the mark he sees on the door at the entrance of that location, and he enters to meet Mikado. Mikado directs Pikari to a healing system in her room, and although he is surprised to see it there, Pikari happily agrees to enter.

Lala and Rito visit the infirmary on another day, finding that Mikado is not there again. Pikari invades this time, taking Lala while trapping Rito. When Mikado appears, however, she quickly subdues Pikari. After sending Pikari back into space, Mikado reveals that she is also an alien. Rito is shocked, but Mikado expresses that there are actually aliens all over the world. Her job is to help them. When Pikari crashes back on his home planet, he is welcomed back by his father. In the meantime, Zastin visits Mikado with his troubles as he typically does.

Preview: Mikan and space idols.

Impression:

Somebody saaaaavvvvveeeee mmeeeeee…..hahaha. Sorry, the first scene totally gave me vibes of that show. I used to really enjoy Smallville, until they started rehashing the story over and over. Speaking of rehashing, this episode was full of it. Not only the scenes, but the jokes and set ups were all repetitive. Adding that with a very uninteresting rocket boy character and a forced plot, I really couldn’t find myself enjoying this episode that much. I guess there were some slightly important things to point out though. Pikari was seemingly played by Miki Shinichiro (Takumi in Initial D, Urahara in Bleach, and Lockon Stratos in Gundam 00 among others). I found it really odd for him to play such a role, but I guess it’s as fitting as Zastin’s seiyu. I kind of spoiled myself half way through the episode about Mikado as well, since I read up on her background while I was looking up her name. I guess it wasn’t really that shocking that she was an alien. Her bandage usage reminded me a lot of Wilhelmina! Also, Lala’s using a racket to send Pikari flying totally reminded me of Peach’s moves in Smash Bros (Yea, I use Peach…). Next week looks like it has more Mikan, so it should automatically be better.

    What the heck ?? When are they going to stop putting these filler crap? Just by looking at the screenshots. I already get a headache of how stupid it will be. Sigh….not looking forward for the sub of this episode at all. BTW, Totali, if you think more Mikan = better then you are way wrong. When you ever see a good filler episode?? For cry out loud, let me be the producer and I can make this anime 10 times better than this.

    No but Totali. I know how cute Mikan is XD. However, I’m all about Haruna and they lack of her appearance which is not acceptable in my book =(. Beside the storyline going nowhere. At least, the manga does. Beside when Yami (Golden Darkness) appears, you gonna be like “Mikan, who the heck is that. I’m all about Yami now !!” XD

    I disagree that the manga goes somewhere. It doesn’t at all. I gave up on reading it halfway through. It mostly consists of Rito trying to fix the misunderstanding between him and Haruna every couple of chapters, and consequently getting involved with Lala in some way or other.

    @artikk

    I know that there wasn’t much of manga storyline in To-love-Ru but you have to admit that they present much better in the manga. For the last 9 episodes of anime, what the hell do we see ?? Absolutely nothing compared to the manga. Each anime episode can consist approximately 3 chapters of manga. Which mean that by episode 9, it should be around chapter 27 to 30 chapters of manga. However, they are not even use 40% of the material in the manga up to this point. For example, episode 4, 7, 8 and 9 are like 75% of piece of shit filler stuff. Episode 1,2,3,5, and 6 are about 50 to 60% filler again. Are those filler stuff funny? Not really? You said “It mostly consists of Rito trying to fix the misunderstanding between him and Haruna every couple of chapters.” I consider that part of storyline (It’s not a big one but it’s something). I mean, Rito tried to go around a fix up the misunderstand show that he really like Haruna and we also see what Haruna’s reaction too. Then you see how Yui and Lala start to like Rito more and more as the chapter goes by. Does anime show any of that good stuff? Nope, they are full of shit at the moment. Beside this is ecchi/love comedy series. When did you see a super twisted above and beyond storyline? You can’t compare this story to some other deep love-romance story since they are totally different type.
