Lazy Summer, 2008

Well, it’s that time again. The summer season will be upon us in a few days, and I’m a lot more excited about it than I was about the spring one. I already see a few shows that I’m sure to watch, and just a couple more that look really interesting. As usual, I won’t be doing a real season preview. You can bother Aroduc (or your choice among several other bloggers) for such things. Anyways, let’s get on to the list!
Guaranteed:
Sekirei: The main heroine is being played by Hayami Saori. I think that’s all I really need to say, but I guess I’ll add a bit more. I’m already sampling some of the manga, and really liking what I see. The promotional material for the show has looked pretty impressive too, and coming from Seven Arcs (Inukami, the Nanoha series), I don’t think I will be disappointed. I need a good lovcom to save me from all the crap I’ve been watching recently anyways, so there’s nothing keeping me from having high hopes for this series.
Hidamari Sketch x365: Okay, it’s time to to go over a few facts:
- Totali likes slice of life.
- Totali likes Shaft.
- Totali is an artist.
- Totali will be blogging the second season of Hidamari Sketch in the summer.
Any questions? …Oh, and I already blogged the specials awhile back.
Zero no Tsukaima: Princesses no Rondo: Wow, it feels like I was just watching this show last summer! Wait…I was. Okay, yea… so like everyone else out there, I’m watching this because of my previous commitments. After the train wreck that was the second season, I’m hoping this one can bring back the greatness the first season had.

Maybe:
Natsume Yujin-Cho: I’m seeing a lot of potential in this one. From the previews and descriptions of the story, I’m kind of getting Mushishi type vibes from it. I really love this supernatural type stuff, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to start blogging it.
Maho Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora: Wow, if I blog this, I’m so not going to type out that huge title all the time. This is being done by HAL Film Maker, a studio that’s worked on several of my favorite anime (Aria and Sketchbook anyone?). Add that with it being a slice of life series, and I can totally see myself getting hooked.
Besides this line up, I’ve also got Nabari no Ou, Wagaya no Oinarisama, and To Love-Ru (which I might drop out of falling interest) continuing from this season. I’ll be watching Ikkitousen and probably some other shows too, but with an already busy summer and a tough semester starting once I get back to school, I’d like to keep my number of shows at a manageable number. It’s likely that I’ll watch most first episodes though, and if anything stands out, I’ll be sure to take note of it.

Hooray for lazy summers! Yea, I think I might also drop To-Love-Ru. The manga is enough to satisfy me =3
A quick question on the Someday’s Dreamer new anime: Is it a direct sequel? It would be very convenient if it weren’t, cause I hate playing catch up (which I will also have to do with Hidamari Sketch!… even though I’m not sure thats a direct sequel either)
The Someday’s Dreamers anime is a spin off. Hidamari is a direct sequel. Both are going to be awesome.
Hell yes, looking forward to you covering Hidamari Sketch. Best anime of the summer season by far.
Hmm at least our viewing will intersect on ZnT3. Do you really think this bunch will yield high-quality love comedy?
I just need less blatant fanservice and more love power. But yea…it looks like ZnT3 will be the only thing most of us will be watching for sure… >.> Who says bloggers blogging the same thing is a bad thing?
Damnit, you’re not following the shows I am!
That’s why you should be watching ZnT3 lol.
Not surprised
Yep, I knew you would blog Hidamari Sketch & ZnT3, after all you blog the earlier series for both shows.
Surprised!
I did not expect you to want to blog Sekirei for some reason.
“Totali likes slice of life”, for some reason I thought you would have blog Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, because I heard that its a romance/comedy/slice of life but I guess it does not matter. Maybe someone else will blog it
Well the one that I can follow is zero no tsukaima since I watch the last to series.
Return of the lolishows!
Unfortunately, nothing to watch again. This time, I’ll let people do the hard work and preview BDSM louise first before touching it.
Mahoutsukai should be renamed Someday’s Snoozers. The magi should make slaves out of the mundanes!
Will check out Natsume Yuujinchou (it sounds/looks interesting) and Someday’s Dreamers. I’ll be doing late first impressions of most series in the line-up though, so I’ll most probably check out the rest.
Haven’t seen the previous season of Hidamari yet, so I’ll go with that first. ^_^
Please (please!) let ZnT3 involve some kind of Bastille Day against the aristocrat mages. It will be the only thing that will give watching all those seasons of that Potterfest any meaning.
Wow… I had no idea there was a ZnT 3 coming. That’s what I get for relying on Neogaf for the season preview. Bunch of Giant-Robot fanboys.
Anyway, the second season was meaty-okra. However, that was because they were bound to a very lame arc that they had to see through. It became too much about plot, and too little about character development. In other words: WEAK.
I dropped To love-RU like it was hot, man. Cause, it t’weren’t hot at all. It’s actually pretty awful, and it wasn’t even the worst in the season. Kanokon was easily the worst thing I’ve ever seen. I weep for humanity because of last season.
@shh227: The lack of promotional material probably had a lot to do with that show going under my radar, but looking at it a bit more, I think it does have the potential to be my kind of show. I’ll have to check out the first episode to see if I like it enough to blog though.
@Di Gi: You are obviously teamed up with Hinano in the “we hate slice of life” squad!
@Rentington: You know, I keep picking up these lovcoms that I know will be horrible…then end up hating myself for wasting so much time on them afterwards. I think I’ve finally started to learn my lesson after things like Kanokon and Ninomiya-kun…..Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to continue punching myself.
On the topic of ZnT3: lul, why would I watch a lovcom for the plot?
EXACTLY. ZnT2 thought we wanted fantasy plot. Lolz, I just wanted Louise to act all tsundere and I would be happy.
Louise and Saito making out or GTFO.
I hope our paths will meet with the slice-of-life shows this season xD And why is love comedy Nogizaka not on your list!!! blasphemy! :O If you’re out of time, you can always drop ToLoveRu
I do not belong to the “hate slice of life” squad. I watched piano. P-I-A-N-O It’s even more slicier of lifey show than someday’s snoozers. Because it didn’t take a bunch of mutants and make them look like mundanes.
Aria I dislike for personal reasons. If it wasn’t for that reason, I would have watched it, but now, it’s personal.
Rentington> Read the comment in kanopr0n finale. There is an idiot there that thinks kanopr0n will win the next academy award for best motion picture. Tits and ass do not make a show alone. If you want to show T&A that much, make it a pure H show instead.
ZnT3: Louise should just dump Saito and have a hawt yuri affair with Shana.
@usagijen: With so many people telling me to check out that show, I’m definitely going to have to now. As of now, anything looks better than To Love-Ru, so that would definitely be an option.
@Di GI: Crossovers!? Also, I just like joking around with you and Hinano about the slice of life thing. ;D
I actually watch zero no tsukaima for the plot LOL! And Lousie x Saito pair.
Dispite there being mix feelings with the 2nd season from some bloggers, there are a lot of bloggers who will still be blogging this anime.
I might go try to watch Hidamari Sketch 2nd season (depends on what shaft does. Speeking of shaft and not trying to go off the topic you probaly heared that ef a tale of memories is getting 2nd season, have a look at the trailer http://www.ef-melo.com/
Yup, I heard about the second season of ef. I’m hella excited. I was going to mention it in a post somewhat soon.
ToLoveRu isn’t really worth the ToRabuRu, after all. (Ok, I just felt like saying that pun lol)
