Wagaya no Oinarisama - 13
D….d….dozo..!
Summary:
Tenko and Ko accompany the boys to Noboru’s school for its yearly festival. Tenko insists on wearing a school uniform to attend, attracting my eyes from passing students. When Toru mentions their father’s disappointment in not being able to come, Ko takes the chance to ask what Mr. Takagami does for a living. Noboru reveals that he is a bus driver, though he has trouble having Ko repeat this phrase. Tenko wishes to have fun with Noboru later, and although he becomes worried about separating from Toru, she assures him that Toru will be safe with Ko and the band she gave him. Tenko becomes excited when she sees balloon art being made, but she is disappointed when she cannot see because of the large crowd before her. When Tenko sees a young girl riding on top of her father’s shoulders, she asks for Noboru to do the same for her. This draws a lot of attention, and when Sakura appears to see it, she has her usual panic. Sakura is forced to admit to Tenko that their class is doing a coffee shop for the festival, but she refuses to lose any further as she takes her leave.
Toru and Ko walk through the haunted house that has been set up, but when Ko senses a threat, she uses the Sakasaen against the “ghost” that comes after them. When Toru states that he is thirsty afterwards, he allows Ko to find a place to rest as he buys drinks with the tickets that Noboru had given him. Toru is bumped into by a girl in a nun outfit after he buys the drinks, spilling one of the cups. The girl offers to buy a replacement for him, returning to find Toru observing a nearby tree. She soon introduces herself as sister Enju, inviting Toru to visit the church close to the school whenever he wants. Noboru later shows up at the coffee shop without Tenko, because she had become interested in food elsewhere. Sakura begins to think that Tenko had given her a chance, but she then begins to worry about Ko again. Feeling that Sakura may be troubled about something when she does not speak, Noboru brings up the live that will be happening soon. Finding that it will only be Noboru and herself going, Sakura quickly agrees to go.
Tenko meets with Ko and Toru with a large bag of food in her hands. Toru suspects that she did something to receive so much food for free, but in reality, it was only Tenko’s usual charm that did this. After awhile, Toru sees a man walking around with ears similar to Tenko’s. He realizes that those around him cannot see the same thing he does, but when he attempts to alert Tenko, he finds that she has already put on a serious face. After getting reacquainted, Tenko introduces the person to Toru as Gyokuyou. When Toru learns how Gyokuyou’s name is written, he gives him the nickname of “Tama-chan”. This quickly entertains Tenko, as she proceeds to make fun of Gyokuyou. After sitting down to eat, Gyokuyou turns to a more serious subject about recent activities by deities. Money is currently being collected by them, and a particular individual is close by. Gyokuyou wonders if Tenko would follow him in learning more about this, but she denies because of her duties with the Takagamis. Gyokuyou expresses that Tenko has certainly changed after seeing this, then taking his leave. Meanwhile, at the end of the live, Sakura and Noboru are surprised to see Miyabe take the stage. When she begins to sing, Noboru is quickly fascinated. This worries Sakura, as she attempts to drag him out of the building. In other places, two deities discuss the plot they have been working towards.
Preview: …….what the.
Impression:
Holy crap! This had to be the most hilarious episode yet. As far as school festival episodes though, this one was top notch. Touching on most all of the stereotypical events, without being cliched, just made for all kinds of win. I loved Kugen’s wish to have a “kata guruma” from Noboru, and the chibis during Sakura’s sequences were even more awesome. Ko finally used the Sakasaen as well, though it was for something really silly. We were introduced to several new characters in this episode as well, including Gyokuyou who makes seemingly very important appearances in the OP. Being half way through the series, I suppose some of the more important development will be showing up soon.
Miyabe Momiji also seems like she will be playing a bigger role soon. Speaking of her, the song at the end was just great. Shizuka Itou has been playing a lot of good roles recently, and I think she’s starting to grow on me. Yukana and Hayami Saori have also been great throughout this series, so much that I would almost say that the seiyu were carrying this series. This obviously isn’t true, but great voice acting certainly doesn’t hurt a series. The next week’s episode preview looks really silly, but it really doesn’t give us many hints towards what the next episode will be about. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
And sort of on topic, the two eye catches from the start and end of the broadcast were amazing! Loli forms FTW!

Huzzah! Another one for the Shizuka Itou fandom!
I loved the chibi scenes too. So cute yet appropriate.
About the collection of money, I admit that I started to suspect Ebisu at first. But it seems that he isn’t involved at this point.
I finally got to watch this episode. It did not disappoint.
That shot with chibi Kuu with the cake is just plain adorable.
I don’t know if it was just because I was in a good mood but I really liked Shizuka Itou’s singing.
This episode was also nice, because it moved the story along by introducing Gyokuyou and Enju.
