Haruna episode.
Summary:
Rito continues to ponder how difficult it would be to become number one in the universe. After going through a few simulations in his head, he decides to take a run. While outside, Rito meets Haruna by coincidence. Sitting down with her, he expresses his need to change. It was Gin’s words that made him realize this, and he believed that he could come up with an answer for himself if he worked at it. This would include his choice between Haruna and Lala. Believing that what Rito is doing is quite admirable, Haruna wonders if she can cheer him on. Rito agrees, before parting ways with her. Rito doesn’t tell Lala about Haruna once he reaches home, or the next day at school. Believing that they share a secret between each other, Rito declares he will do his best with Haruna’s support. Throughout the following days, Rito continues to meet Haruna during his runs. As this makes him very happy, Rito believes it would be nice to continue his days like this.
On a rainy day, Rito is surprised that Haruna still chose to meet him. Haruna wonders if she could make Rito a lunch on the following Sunday, making Rito start to believe that this is something like a promise for a date. While Haruna looks through a cookbook at home, her older sister guesses that she is preparing for a date. She also makes Haruna realize that she has started to change recently. When Rito gets to have Haruna’s homemade meal that Sunday, he is overjoyed. When Haruna expresses her gladness, Rito is only able to believe that she is unbelievably cute. Rito and Haruna’s conversation is soon interrupted when Haruna’s dog falls into the nearby river. Rito is successfully able to save it, but Haruna worries when she sees Rito’s now drenched clothes. With this, she invites him to her nearby home.
Rito is unable to believe the situation he is in once he reaches Haruna’s home, even using her bath. While Haruna washes his clothes, Rito ends up in Haruna’s room with just a towel on. Haruna explains that she lives alone with her sister in the apartment, but Rito is further shocked to learn that her sister is out with friends that day. When Rito notices that Haruna has pictures from their middle school days in her room, the two get in another friendly conversation. Haruna trips while going to check on Rito’s clothes later, and when Rito attempts to help her, the two only get in a suggestive situation. Rito almost takes advantage of the position he is in, but he runs out of the house in panic when Haruna’s older sister returns to see them. By the time Rito reaches home, he is already in deep despair about the situation he is now in.
ED: “kissの行方” by Anna - I like the new ED a lot more than the last one. It’s much more stylish and well done, though I am surprised that it focuses purely on Haruna.
Preview: Back to the alien antics.
Impression:
Talk about bad timing. The end of this episode was so predictable, yet it gets me every time. I actually thought this episode was pretty good, in that it actually had some continuity from the last episode. It was the romantic conflicts between the girls around Rito, Haruna and Lala in particular, that first caught my attention in the first place. I just don’t understand why it can’t focus more on that, rather than the pointless and uninteresting alien invasion arcs. Things like Mikan’s reaction to Rito in the bathroom were also a riot. Her indifferent reactions are definitely one of the things that makes her so win. I liked the introduction of Haruna’s older sister as well, since she did help a bit in character development. Things I could have gone without though, were the pointless recaps in the beginning of the episode and the bad art and animation throughout. “Dead eyes” syndrome is always so easy to notice. Next week doesn’t look like it will impress me that much, and with the last batch of new shows airing around that time, I’m not sure if I’ll continue blogging this after that.

Xebec really can’t do anything good now. There only decent shows were years ago.
Whatcha talkin bout?? This show is preety decent to me.. I’m sure others would agree.. Yeah sure others may say otherwise but if it’s not your thing.. well.. then it’s not your thing move on..
no, it’s shit
Such negativity.. Eh your opinion is not important.. You don’t even have a good explanation as to why you think it’s shit.. And hey you could’ve at least recommended something else.. Any good recommendations out there?? I mean this anime is alright but it dosn’t cross over into the best I’ve seen so far..
Hello, I just be a lurker who felt compelled to comment.
I would be happy if you continued to blog this, but I’d have to agree with you… this show’s gone to hell thanks to all this pointless filler and this anime-original stuff they’re pulling out of god-knows-where. Now, I’m not saying that anime-original stuff is a bad thing — if this is done with care and with attention to the strengths and weaknesses of the original source material (in this case, the manga), then the result could be as good as the source itself. But for the most part, the show directors seem to be more content with using “alien invasions” instead of the romantic drama and character development we came for.
As for the art — it’s not that bad IMO since we’ve seen worse (Yoake Mae and the ball cabbage, anyone?) but it definitely could use some cleaning up. The characters themselves are also great, and I enjoy the way they interact with each other. But the main gripe with this is the plot, really — the manga might not have a lot of plot development either (and I know since I’ve read it), but at least the fillers they used were amusing to read. Here, it just gets tiresome and repetitive. Xebec REALLY needs to get its act together, because this show just isn’t good to watch anymore.
Sorry for the long comment, but I just had to get it off my chest.
If it’s shit don’t watch it, my motive for dropping animes, and I’ve never even thought one sec about dropping this show, especially because I’ve read the manga, and the manga is just one whole piece of awesomeness packed together in a donkeykong like adventure
