Zero no Tsukaima: Princesses no Rondo – 01

OP: “YOU’RE THE ONE” by ICHIKO – To be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of ICHIKO’s music. I’ve always though ZnT’s OPs were pretty standard too. With that said, I do at least like the animation in this season’s. As usual, it hints towards the characters and situations we’ll be seeing soon. I’m just waiting for the whacky sfx to appear in the last episode…

Summary:

Saito advances on Louise in her room, as she expresses her happiness to have him return. Shortly after Saito begins undressing Louise, however, the two are interrupted by Siesta’s entrance. Louise suddenly panics when she sees the rune on Saito’s hand disappear, further shocking Saito and Siesta. While the headmaster discusses the current peace they have outside afterwards, Louise can only worry about the fact that Saito would no longer be her familiar if the rune disappeared. Saito wonders about this as well, but Derfringher makes him believe that he should actually be relieved. Eleanor and Cattleya soon meet with Saito, but they are interrupted by the class’s panic over learning about Saito’s disappearing rune. Eleanor begins to suggest that Louise could easily find a better familiar, but they are further interrupted by Agnes who announces that Henrietta wishes to meet with Louise and Saito.

While traveling by carriage, Louise tells Saito that he can leave if he wishes, since they no longer share a connection. Although Saito wonders what she is on about, Louise suggests that it was only she who thought of Saito in the first place. Agnes decides to stop for a rest, as Louise and Saito quickly leave the carriage. When Louise expresses her wish to be alone, Saito allows her to do so in annoyance. While in the nearby forest, Louise can only wonder if Saito would still stay by her side despite being free. Louise’s thoughts are interrupted when she sees a small knight nearby, then hearing a voice coming from none other than Sheffield. As more monsters appear to surround Louise, she sends a signal in hopes that Saito would realize the troubled state she is in. As Louise wonders why she is after her, Sheffield makes her realize that she is interested in her as well as her familiar. When Sheffield unveils her hood, she reveals that she also has the mark of a familiar on her forehead.

When Saito appears to save Louise just in time, she wonders why he came. Of course, despite being free, Saito expresses the given that a man should protect a woman in danger. Saito begins taking care of the beasts around him, as Louise prepares a spell. Eventually, Agnes also appears to help. Sheffield can only wonder about Saito’s actions, since she realizes that he should no longer be Louise’s familiar, but she is soon called on to retreat by her own master. After Louise successfully lets off a huge spell to take care of those around her, she expresses her annoyance and happiness towards Saito.

When Saito and Louise meet Henrietta, they find that her room is empty due to the war. To express her appreciation towards Saito, Henrietta presents a diploma to him. Saito is not sure what this does for him, but Louise makes him realize that he would become royalty. With this, Saito is forced to refuse the offer. Henrietta finally learns that Saito had lost his mark of a familiar, as well as the powers that came with it. Recalling that his life was saved by a fairy during the war, he remembers that her name was Tiffania. Henrietta quickly orders Agnes to find Tiffania, further becoming surprised that Louise and Saito were attacked.

Louise fears that he is losing Saito in her dreams that night, making her very mad to find Saito simply standing outside. In tears, Louise expresses how worried she was each time Saito had disappeared from her side. Holding Louise, Saito promises that he will not go anywhere. Although Louise states that it is fine if he is not her servant, Saito can only wonder if it is fine to be with her without a means to protect her. Saito asks if Louise could try the servant contract again, but Louise fears what would happen if he disappeared and another servant replaced him. Saito finally decides that the contract isn’t important at the moment, making Louise realize that they love each other. When Saito brings up Louise’s promise from the morning, however, Louise only gives her usual explosion to Saito. With this, things return to normal between the two.

ED: “Gomen ne” by Rie Kugimiya – I don’t really like Kugimiya Rie’s singing either. This one’s pretty much like the first two, so I really don’t have much to say about it. I did laugh to see Saito up on top of Tiffania’s boobs though.

Preview: Tiffania is properly introduced.

Impression:

LOVE POWER. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I think I’m going to be saying that a lot this season. This episode was full of awesome, from Louise’s usual tsundere self to Saito’s manning it up to protect her. It was funny that we got a kiss scene right off the bat (I can see Hinano squealing already….wait, she already did.), and with all the usual situations and character returning, this episode seemed to have everything I liked about the previous two seasons. We were introduced to new pieces of plot and reminded of several things that happened at the end of the second season too, so it really felt like this was a direct continuation. I thought this was more so than when we went from the first season to the second, but it also felt like a lot less time went by between season two and three. Besides the introduction of Tiffania, I’m guessing the plot will continue to center around Sheffield and all that jazz we never really cared about. I do wonder if looking at all three seasons as a whole will make me appreciate the second season more though. Anyways, yea, I’ll be covering this. Sundays have become a three show day again, as well as what Aroduc likes to call “JCStaff Day”. If only Shana 3 was airing….wait, Hi Sabrac.

    Tsundays are subsequently fundays.

The last episode of the second season was full of fail. I feel like they skipped a lot of stuff there so they could get a quick ending.

Wait a bloody minute… is this… a new Zero no Tsukaima!? This looks like some more girls vs Louise :)

Oh Tifa, I didn’t think that putting on more clothes could make you look cuter.

    I was wrong.

All Louise needs to do is stop being a heinous bitch and treat Saito like a human, then she wouldn’t be in this mess. I wish when she told him you can leave, he went “See ya” and slapped her across the face.

    I don’t really wish that.

Well, since the kingdom has no money, the queen can’t support the peasant, which I hope will lead to a guillotine party somewhere down the road.

Do I see the emergence of moar rivalz for Louise? Her rivals all have one thing in common: oh, and they aren’t abusive.

That chevalier certificate reminds me of Bill Cosby and all his honorary degrees. I was really surprised by the early kiss, and Saito really pressed his advantage (although he still failed in the end).

Louise knows that Maria-sama is always watching!

Oh that Siesta and her fking cockblocker.

I agree that ICHIKO’s music is pretty bad. It’s always massively off-key (nails on a chalkboard) and the tunes are never anything special at all… No idea why they had her do the OP again. The animation does look nicer than last season though, very promising!
