Summary:

Kumohira panics when Kouichi collapses, but he is further alarmed when a strong gust of wind appears from the stairs below him. In the grounds below, everyone else sees that Miharu is the cause of this. With his desire to save Yoite in mind, Miharu’s power is brought to the surface. When Subaru attempts to stop Miharu, her attacks are deflected and her companions are forced back. Kumohira charges towards Miharu when he reaches the basement, but he is easily deflected as well. When Miharu reaches Yoite, he freezes upon hearing the Shinrabanshou’s taunting voice. Kumohira returns to attempt Miharu from using his powers, but this time, vines break from the ground to overpower him. Miharu claims that it is not he that Kumohira wants to save, but himself. Upon hearing this, Kumohira is reminded of Kouichi’s words. When Miharu is at the edge of using his powers on Yoite, Kumohira slaps him away just in time. While knocked on the ground, the Shinrabanshou reveals that Miharu certainly has the power to use his hijitsu. However, he would still have to get rid of his uncertainty.

In the aftermath of the chaos, the Kairoshu stand up against the three Kouga council members. The Kairoshu suspect that the Kouga had lured them to the campus in order for them to be used as the Daya’s energy, but Kannukki soon appears to reveal that it was actually he who desired the Daya’s powers. Kannukki soon locks the group in the room, and they are unable to escape no matter how hard they try. When Raimei asks where Kouichi is, Kumohira is unable to answer. Raiko reveals that he had died due to Kannukki’s gunshot, however, then preventing Raimei from panicking. Yukimi meanwhile convinces Miharu that Yoite would not die so easily, but when Miharu reveals himself to be conscious, he tells everyone to be quiet as he thinks. Subaru meanwhile worries herself, because there is seemingly no one to protect the headmaster from Kannukki.

Kannukki holds a gun to the headmaster’s head, demanding the Daya’s location along with several followers. The headmaster refuses, however, revealing that he has entrusted the Daya to someone he believes in. Becoming irritated, Kannukki fires at the headmaster. Before he can continue, however, those in the room are shocked by Kouichi’s entrance. Kannukki is unable to believe this, having seen Kouichi die, but Kouichi only expresses that it would have been better if this was the case. Kouichi does not fall no matter how many shots he takes, quickly taking out everyone in the room. The headmaster instantly realizes Kouichi’s relation to a certain girl, as Kouichi reminds him that night would soon fall.

Raimei and the others are surprised when Kouichi appears to free them from the basement, but Shijima only believes he was too slow. Reaching the area above, Subaru and Katarina despair at the headmaster’s belief that his time is running out. When the headmaster reveals that the Kouga’s scroll is far from his possession, Subaru is unable to accept this fact. She soon threatens Juji’s life while demanding for the scroll’s location, but she is easily stopped by one of Yukimi’s shots. Katarina also makes her realize that they were mistaken, and the two are soon forced to cry over the headmaster’s passing.

The next day, Miharu is surprised to have Shijima approach him and hand over the Kouga’s hidden scroll. According to the headmaster’s will, it had been entrusted to her. In the present time, a new head is also being decided. Shijima expresses her interest in what Miharu’s plans dealing with the hidden scrolls, then recalling that the events probably all happened according to plan. When the group wonders who exactly Shijima is, she only reintroduces herself and claims to be an observer. Miharu stops Shijima while questioning if she knows anything about the scroll’s hijitsu, but even though she confirms that she does, she only continues to leave afterwards. Miharu suggests to Yukimi that they return home, but Kumohira stops him by claiming that the Shinrabanshou does not have the ability to save anyone. Kumohira claims that he will never forgive Miharu if he were to use the hijitsu, but Miharu simply covers his ears while walking away.

Preview: Yoite’s recovery.

Impression:

So like, my power went out while I was getting this episode. Then it went out again when I tried to watch it. Since I had to work today, I pretty much decided to give up on it until now. But anyways, this episode was awesome. Miharu’s burst of power was totally overpowered, and it further revealed how much hidden potential he holds. It was especially interesting to hear the Shinrabanshou assure him that he would be able to use the hijitsu eventually, making me believe he surely will by the end of the series. An evil sounding Yukari Tamura is fine too, pretty much making the Shinrabanshou give me moe explosions. Kugimiya Rei, on the other hand, made me laugh while trying to scream like a boy.

Even with the foreshadowing from before, Kouichi’s reappearance was shocking as well. If his immortality isn’t interesting enough, the question about what woman he is related to is now brought up. It seems like these subplots are becoming even more interesting than the main one, though I’m sure most of them will intertwine by the end. I’m also very interested in Shijima’s true role, since she obviously hasn’t revealed all the knowledge she really has yet. Miharu’s actions at the end of this episode did seem a bit childish, but as I’ve mentioned several times already, I think this is how his character is supposed to be represented. I refuse to believe that Kumohira will become his enemy though, especially with the hints we got at the very start of the series.

The next episode looks like it will be a lot slower, and Miharu wearing Yoite’s scarf scares me a little bit. Hopefully it will actually provide for something new to become engaged in.
