Tsukiumi! L.O.V.E.~!

Summary:

Kusano attempts to prevent Tsukiumi from attacking Minato with her powers, but Minato expresses his need to become Tsukiumi’s companion no matter what. Tsukiumi sends a large attach in Minato’s direction, but because of the reactions in her body, she cannot get a direct hit on him. Hikari and Hibiki soon remind Tsukiumi that they are her opponents, then showing the power they have when sharing kisses with Seo. To everyone’s surprise, Minato runs in to protect Tsukiumi from the girls’ attack. Tsukiumi soon sends an attack towards Seo, causing the cat he had caught to run off in fear. Extremely angered by this, Seo approaches Tsukiumi with the threat to make her his Sekirei. Tsukiumi is unable to move her body while this happens, but she realizes that Seo is not the one she would like to have as an Ashikabi. Minato calls out to Seo in response to this, asking for him to leave Tsukiumi alone as she is his Sekirei. Hikari and Hibiki also attack Seo, believing he has been unfaithful to his promise that they would be his only Sekirei.

As he said that she was his Sekirei, Tsukiumi has Minato take responsibility for the claim. With a changed heart, Tsukiumi shares a kiss with Minato. After the winging, Tsukiumi is reminded that Kusano is also Minato’s Sekirei. This only slightly annoys her, but when she finds out that Minato now has four Sekirei in all, she sends a small attack his way. When the group returns home, Tsukiumi surprises Miya by claiming to be Minato’s wife. This sends jealousy in Kusano’s way, while Musubi simply claims to be Minato’s wife as well. During the commotion, Kagari can only find Minato mysterious for being able to wing someone as powerful as Tsukiumi. After Tsukiumi properly introduces herself to Miya, Miya surprises Minato by admitting her knowledge of the Sekirei plan. To explain this, she reminds him that her husband worked for the M.B.I.. Tsukiumi almost recognizes Kagari as Homura, but because he does not have his mask on, this is put off as a coincidence. Matsu worries slightly about Kagari’s body while alone with him afterwards, but he only recalls his wishes to defeat a certain person before leaving for work.

Yukari meanwhile remembers previous events while Shiina is in her shower. Shiina had explained that he was involved in the Sekirei plan, and that he believed that Yukari would be his Ashikabi. When Shiina described the kiss they would have to have to seal the contract, however, Yukari could only change the subject. When Shiina exits the shower in the present time, Yukari suggests that they go out to get clothes for him later. Back at the Izumo Inn, Tsukiumi is properly introduced to Matsu and Uzume at the dinner table. While Tsukiumi enters the bath with Musubi later, Kusano takes the chance to ask who Minato likes outside. Minato states that he likes everyone, causing Kusano to give him a kiss on the cheek and expressing her wish to become his bride when she grows up. In other places, Takami reports the recent events to Minaka. With this, he announces the next phase in the Sekirei project.

ED: Double trouble…and they’re not even Minato’s Sekirei!

Preview: Karasuba, the black Sekirei.

Impression:

Tsukiumi! I choose you! Man, this episode was awesome. Having the fights and effects animated from their manga counterparts just made things so much more exciting. I really loved seeing Tsukiumi throw her water around, right down to the “Water Festival” attacks. Kusano was as awesome as ever too, and Hanazawa Kana’s Potemayo role started to show through a bit when she started hissing at Tsukiumi. Although my memory of the manga is already hazy at this point, I do remember that some things were made more dramatic in the animation as well. Hikari and Hibiki’s kiss with Seo, for one, was a lot more flashy this time around. The short scene with Yukari and Shiina almost made me go, “Silly Seven Arcs, you’re not Shaft!”, but I should probably leave personal bias out of that one. Other than that, watching all of the Sekirei’s usual antics was as fun to watch as ever. With Karasuba appearing next week, there might be some slight changes in how the story develops soon.

Poor Tsukiumi. She’d never would have imagined that she’d be part of a harem. And Minato should be fuggin’ grateful that so many (mostly) well-endowed chicks are falling for him for no reason.

Well, this series is about Minato beating the game by getting a bunch of girls into his harem.

Also, as ItAintEazy reappears at the same time as Shirukii, I suspect that they are actually the same person simply using different handles.

Totali! I just returned to the anime world and have no idea what’s going on this summer. Quick summary/recommendation of what’s going on this season?

    So far all I’ve got on my plate are carry overs from Spring + Hidamari Sketch x365 ;_;

    Halp.

This week ED hints something or it’s for mere fun?

  5. Totali August 6th, 2008 10:25 pm

@Shirukii: Uh…I dunno. Most of the stuff I’m watching is continuing from last season too. Besides what I’m blogging, Natsume is pretty sweet for another slice of life show, I’m liking Birdy the Mighty, and Haruka’s Secret is decent for a lovcom. All depends on taste though. Just look around the blogspherez. *yawn*

AGear2Ax: All for fun. Hibiki and Hikari can’t become Minato’s Sekirei, and they don’t ever get that close to him….unless there’s some random and badly devised change in the manga planned at some point in the future.

Tsukiumi FTW! Man I cannot wait to watch this episode now lol.

Well, they could just kill Seo. I don’t think it’s clear what happens if the master dies.

  8. Totali August 7th, 2008 6:42 am

Why would they kill Seo…that would just be mean.

  9. ItAintEazy August 7th, 2008 8:55 am

What? To think that I’d be compared to that mass-pirating hoser that abandons us and comes back with a weak-ass exuse? ;)

But to be serious, I’m pretty much in the same boat as, well, everyone else apparently. Full-time physical labor with frequent overtime does not do much for my embarassing otaku habits. This is probably the first time this summer I watched Sekirei in the same day.

“With Karasuba appearing next week, there might be some slight changes in how the story develops soon.”

It looks to be the same scenes as from the manga, they just occured right before Tsukiumi getting winged in the manga.

is not easy being a pimp…

  12. Totali August 7th, 2008 5:11 pm

    Aren’t we all busy people.

As far as the “slight changes” I mentioned, I just meant things would be happening a bit out of order…I’m not sure if they will be taking out some of the random events either, like Tsukiumi and Musubi challenging each other for groceries.

Haha, this probably my favorite episode so far. Really funny XD. Oh, Totali, do you think there will be a second season of this series ?? Because I don’t think they can cover everything by just 12 episodes.

  14. kenshin514 August 7th, 2008 8:22 pm

Never mind. I just found out that it will be 26 episodes long. Oh, BTW totali, your girl (Tsukiumi) doesn’t seem to have the biggest boob out of all Sekirei. Her figure is only 94-57-88 which is only 4th best. LOL. Wow, I just sound like a big pervert.

  15. man0warr August 8th, 2008 3:40 pm

    It’s only 12 episodes.

  16. Totali August 8th, 2008 8:53 pm

I’m pretty certain that this season will only be going on for 12 episodes. The manga hasn’t gone on long enough to cover more than that without a ton of filler. I’m also pretty certain that there will be a second season once enough material has surfaced to animate. This series is obviously becoming quite popular already, so it’s not like funds would be a problem in the future.

may I ask a spoiler question plz?

In the manga didn’t it state that she wanted to give her 1st kiss to Minato before she kisses Shiina? and also she tried to imply much later on that Yukari wasn’t blood related to Minato?
