I guess it's probably because I just got used to the characters in the manga. My thoughts upon seeing the new characters were something like this; "cowgirl/boy duo", "janitor" and "secret agent". It made my brain die a little. I'll probably end up liking these new ones, but I have to admit to being a little disappointed that the anime took out the manga characters. But since they have to make their own ending, it's understandable. I'm definitely very excited to see the next episode.
