Zero no Tsukaima 3 - 09
Late posts incoming. I was at a wedding.
Summary:
The academy searches for clues dealing with Tabitha, but during the commotion, a girl appears in the nude to find Saito. The girl introduces herself as Irukukwu, explaining that she needs to save her older sister. This older sister turns out to be Tabitha, and Irukukwu later explains that she had been captured while trying to save her mother. When the majority of the students do not seem to fully believe Irukukwu’s story, she rushes away to get proof. The students are soon greeted by Sylphid, and after Saito asks her questions to confirm Irukukwu’s statements, the Undine are then convinced enough to help. Believing that it would be bad to take action on their own, however, a few of them decide to meet Henrietta. While the Undine discuss this, Louise can only continue to worry about Saito’s relationship with the queen. In other places, it is revealed that Tabitha’s capturer is none other than her uncle Joseph. The elf Vidashal attempts to deal with Joseph while with him, mentioning a demon’s power that seems to be a certain threat to his people.
When Saito and a few others meet Henrietta, they are surprised to find that she will not allow their actions. As she explains that this is because they could start a war as her knights, Saito offers to leave the chevaliers to prevent troubling her. In response to this, however, Henrietta has Agnes arrest Saito and the others. While alone with her, Louise finally takes the chance to ask Henrietta what she thinks of Saito. Describing her lonely feelings and the fact that there was no one around that she could depend on, Henrietta suggests that she might have been looking for anyone to get close to. This bothers Louise, but she goes on to explain the importance of her familiar to Henrietta. Louise also removes her symbol of royalty, causing even her to become locked up with Saito and the others. Several of the group’s friends eventually show up to save them later, but when Saito and the others wonder how the academy knew they were captured, Irukukwu is forced to reveal her identity as Tabitha’s familiar Sylphid. Elsewhere, Tabitha wakes to learn from Vidashal that it is planned that she would have to drink the same potion that made her mother lose her mind.
Preview: Plot and fanservice. I bet you didn’t see that one coming.
Impression:
No, it wasn’t Louise and Saito’s. It wasn’t even Kabitzin’s or Hinano’s. I’ve got a new sister in my family though, kind of like Tabitha seemed to have in this episode.
…Too bad this week’s episode sucked. Irukukwu was pretty cute, even though her adding “~ne” at the end of everything was kind of getting to me. Sylphid also reminded me that there are actually other familiars in this show besides Saito. I mean, really…when was the last time we saw Kirche’s salamander or Guiche’s mole? The animation for this episode was really sloppy, and there even some terrible transitions while listening to the bgm. It really seems like this series can’t go anywhere but downhill after the first season, and no, trying to sell dvds by censoring random crap isn’t helping. Even the development in this episode was lackluster, with Saito and the others being jailed for wanting to save Tabitha. The mention of Louise being Henrietta’s childhood friend made me let out a big sigh too, especially while the two were being angsty about who is the best in Saito’s harem. Next week doesn’t look terribly better, but maybe they can surprise me by dishing out another streak of enjoyable episodes.
