Clannad After Story – 02
Surprise….secret milf!
Summary:
In their world, the robot and young girl gather spare parts in a large field. The girl warns the robot not to go too far, as he would lose sight of home if he did. The robot eventually sees a sheep-like creature, but when the girl picks one of these up afterwards, he realizes that these are not dangerous creatures. Tomoya and Nagisa have lunch with Youhei at school, then bringing up that Mei has been staying with the Furukawa family again. This is because Mei has has been concerned over her older brother not having decided on what to do with his future yet. When Youhei suggests that his sister would be assured if he had a girlfriend to establish his future with, Tomoya agrees that this is a great plan. This brings the three around campus, as Youhei asks several of the usual girls to pretend to go out with him.
When Youhei asks Ryou for her help, she is brought to tears in panic. Kyou soon shows up to punish the boys afterwards, with devastating results. Youhei fears approaching Tomoyo for assistance next, but he decides to give it his best as her rival. In the end though, he is only ignored. Kotomi quickly agrees to the group’s plan when she is asked, but Youhei passes after realizing that he would not be able to deal with her deafening violin playing. Youhei is convinced that Yukine would be able to save him next, but when one of her followers appears after hearing the conversation, he quickly damages Youhei before fleeing through the nearby window.
Tomoya has Youhei try to pick up girls outside of campus next, but this obviously makes Youhei looks like a suspicious person. Sanae appears before the boys by coincidence, and she surprises them by agreeing to assist them with their plan. Because of a conversation from a previous day, Youhei believes that Sanae is Nagisa’s older sister. Seeing that this would be interesting, Tomoya does not tell him the truth. Because Mei would easily see who Sanae is, Tomoya has her dress up in various outfits from the drama club that night. Nagisa is troubled about this idea when she finds out about it, but Sanae describes her want to help after seeing Youhei’s troubles previously. Before ending the conversation, Tomoya reminds the two to keep this plan a secret from Akio. If he found out, things would probably be dangerous for Youhei.
When Sanae and Youhei practice acting like a couple later, Youhei cannot help but be genuinely flustered. When Mei accompanies Tomoya and Nagisa to meet Youhei’s “girlfriend” the next day, they find that Youhei has been drinking a lot of drinks in order to act as if he was waiting for Sanae for a long time. Youhei is forced to go to the bathroom because of this, so Mei and the others take the chance to clean up the cans left behind. To the group’s surprise, Sanae appears to help in a girl’s school outfit. When Mei finds out that this is the person who Youhei is supposedly dating, she cannot help but be troubled.

Impression:
Oh……migawd. I haven’t laughed this hard since……last week’s Clannad. I’m not a game player, but I’m fairly certain this is filler. I mean, it was just so….out there. Having heard mixed things about After Story’s episode length though, I wouldn’t be surprised if this went on for quite awhile. Like I said multiple times during the last season, I am continually amazed at how this visual novel adaption continues to make me laugh even more than the actual comedies I watch do. I can’t think of a moment during this episode where I wasn’t cracking up, from the first encounter with Ryou to Sanae’s ridiculousness at the end. I am definitely happy to see more action from Mei too, since she hardly had any screen time during the first season. (Yea, yea…she’s suppose to be a side character……Fuuko….? Where….?) Anyways, it is going to be really hard to actually write something up about this episode without simply listing everything that was funny about it. I can’t wait to see the “drama” next week. I bet Mei gets eyebags and shoots a divine buster at Youhei.

Got a question for you, Totali ?? Why do you think they want to make 24 episodes long for this season ?? I thought that’s way too long. Sure funny episode like this one is great but if the story is going nowhere then it won’t be that exciting to watch. I just feel like 13 episodes should be enough for the big arc that devote to Tomoya x Nagisa.
Kyoani needs their money to make more FMP and Haroohi.

I personally don’t mind After Story’s ‘filler’. That just means more comedy episodes which are the show’s forte. And moar money for Kyoani, mirite?
This is definitely the Sunohara Siblings arc. It’s one of the best Clannad subarcs, imo.

Yeah, but one question. If you watch streams with all their commercials intact, is it still called piracy? Or do we have to buy a bunch of Takara Tomys and Chibi Maruko-chan Happy Meals in order for it to be legit?
This is when you start getting into the same argument people have about downloading US television shows. Everyone is getting paid through advertising. They’re not losing money from us watching the shows; they typically make money when we are exposed to them and want to buy more merchandise later.
Wow, I download anime through the internet….I could probably watch the same shows by getting asian satellite if I really wanted to. Tivo? That Fanta commercial was really silly….I’m feeling a little thirsty… Hmm, I would have never seen this show if it wasn’t for the internet; let alone feel like buying it. Rant, rant, rant….

I’m all for the Sunohara Mei arc (as it IS one of the better sub-routes in the game), though it makes me wonder if they can squeeze either Kappei’s and Misae’s as well before we go into the AS proper.
Sunohara route, but no Yukine route.

From the preview last week, I had a feeling they were doing this arc from the game. I merely read a bit about it from Hinano’s game review before but picturing it in my mind made me LOL so much. I said I’ll marathon AS later, but I’m going to watch this episode because Sunohara = full of win and lolz. xD
