Summary:

Jin greets Nagi in the morning to learn that she has broken her purchased magic stick while sleeping. As Jin prepares for the day afterwards, Nagi walks outside to find two kittens close to the house. She excitedly expresses her wish to keep them when Jin follows, or at least to give them some food, but he denies her ideas. After going out to purchase some things, Jin returns home to find that Nagi’s magic stick has been glued to his dining table. Jin’s childhood friend Tsugumi passes by the house during the following commotion, obviously surprised when she sees Nagi with Jin. Jin does his best to explain things to Tsugumi when she enters his house, but Nagi surprises both of them by introducing herself as Jin’s relative. Even after Tsugumi leaves, Nagi convinces Jin that she has something of a split personality that her other self does not know about. While discussing exactly how her magic stick got stuck to the dining table later, however, Jin soon sees that Nagi was deceiving him.

Walking home in the afternoon later, Jin sees a dead cat lying in the streets. After overhearing that it has been there for quite some time, he quickly panics at the thought that this was probably the earlier kittens’ mother. When he reaches the kittens’ location, his prediction is proved correct when he sees Nagi holding them both in her arms. After a glow appears around Nagi and the kittens seem to enter her body, Jin runs to Nagi as she faints at the spot. Jin fixes Nagi’s magic stick later, and when Nagi wakes while expressing that she is hungry, Jin takes the chance to ask her about what happened earlier. When Nagi rudely refuses to tell Jin anything about this, the two get into an argument about their positions. In the end, Nagi is forced out of Jin’s home.

Nagi meets a group of kids while at the abandoned shrine’s location later, then becoming interested in the many toys they have. One of the boys, Miipu, eventually expresses his need to go home because of all the negative things around him lately. Nagi sees that there is an impurity on Miipu’s back, but it escapes when she tries to cleanse it. Nagi continues to chase this throughout the town, but she is clearly unable to touch it. Jin suddenly shows up to capture it in a tunnel, and with this, Nagi successfully defeats it. Nagi asks Jin if he is mad at her while riding on his back afterwards, which he confirms. However, because of his growing used to this type of thing form his father, he brings her home to have dinner either way. Elsewhere, the kids from earlier see that Nagi is not returning to them.

Impression:

This episode basically came straight out of the manga, with a lot fewer differences than the first episode had. I’m loving the simple, yet catchy OST, and the animation for this episode was really nice at points. It looks like they’re using a different image each week for the ED.

Notes:

  • Nagi is still cute and amazing.
  • C…..cute!!!
  • Boob jokes?
  • How did the magic stick get stuck like that!?
  • Sawashiro Miyuki as Tsugumi is win.
  • P…p….pantsu???
  • Childhood friends still aren’t real…but Tsugumi is pretty awesome.
  • Nagi’s puns are almost as bad as Kabitzin’s.
  • Nagi acting like an oujosama is hilarious.
  • Fufufufufu~
  • Ohhhh~
  • Poor cat…
  • Overanimated running scenes FTW.
  • Poor ramen.
  • NuuuUUUUuuuu don’t fight!
  • Stupid loli and shouta messing with Nagi’s magic stick!
  • Super ball? More like bouncy ball…
  • The power of love and friendship saves the day again!

I laughed my ass of throughout this entire episode. I’ve got to go to work, but I’ll do a proper write up when I get back. Hope I don’t start cracking bad puns while I talk to the customers…

Update: Busy fall break is busy. I’ll continue working on this in increments after some sleep~.

Update 2: I’m lazy, I’ve already watched this episode twice, and I’ve forgotten what I had to say after watching it. The notes are there. I’m basically going to leave this alone as some live blogging experiment or something. Tune in for the next episode, I guess. Aren’t we all busy people?

I LOL at the scene where Nagi was thinking if she collected 7 of the “super balls”… ;)

Also the whole split personality bit was a lot more hilarious when animated (and voiced) versus reading it in the manga. Props to Haruka Tomatsu for that!

Yesss, SUPER BALL! This was great, except for the poor kitties; srsnss woven into all the lulz. btw, thank god I didn’t have a drink in my mouth when I saw the wand glued to the table… and when Jin steps to the door holding pantsu… WHO DOES THAT!? lol

Nagi has spunk, I can see the comparison to Horo, substitute puns for flirtation.

Dammit, still haven’t peeped the manga.

Nagi’s puns are almost as bad as bad as Kabitzin’s.

Your english teacher called… he just wanted to say hi! But anyways, I’ll correct this for you:

Nagi’s puns are almost as BAD ASS as BAD-ASS-KABITZIN!

This show is hilarious. SUPER BALL ATTACK! And the ED theme is amazing, I want to buy the single NOW.

    On a side note, shouldn’t picture #14 be between #10 and #11?

If you don’t hurry up and return to this post, it will die like those kittens… do you want that on your conscience?

Despite her flaws of having cut bangs and the lack of eyebrows, there’s just something about Nagi that make me want to ravage her into oblivion.
