Clannad After Story – 05
Super shouta power!
Summary:
In the alternate world with the young girl, the robot boy wonders about the light that is always around them. The girl soon announces that she has finished building something out of the parts they have gathered, and after putting the robot on top of it, she plays on her version of a seesaw with him. Afterwards, the girl notices that winter seems to appear in this world as well. After guessing that the girl must have been alone for a long time, the robot also wonders what is beyond the skies above them. On the way to Youhei’s dorm, Tomoya and Nagisa meet Misae’s cat outside. Reaching the dorm’s entrance, the two see that Youhei is being punished by Misae as usual. After exchanging greetings, Nagisa states that she and Tomoya came to visit with a meal that her mother made for Youhei. Sanae had made this for him in belief that he would be lonely now that Mei has gone home. The topic eventually changes to Misae’s cat, and although Nagisa mistakingly assumes that its name is Nanashi, Misae corrects her by saying that it does not have a proper name yet. Interestingly, the cat seems to be quite attached to Tomoya.
Tomoyo eventually shows up before the group as well, revealing that she actually comes by quite often to ask Misae for advice dealing with the student council. A man eventually appears at Misae’s room, and after listening to their discussion behind the room’s door, Youhei reveals that the man is getting date advice from her. Tomoya later describes the many good traits that Misae has, also mentioning the many fans she has. After hearing the three traits that Tomoya lists, however, Misae remembers that she was once told the same thing in the past. Misae eventually has Youhei go back to his room while she talks with Tomoya and Nagisa, as she gives them a ticket similar to the one she gave to the man who visited earlier. When Misae reveals that she had heard from Youhei that the two rarely seem to go on things like dates, Nagisa and Tomoya can only show quite a bit of embarrassment. While Nagisa and Misae continue to talk about various things, Tomoya starts to nod off into sleep. Before doing so, he hears a voice telling him that he would receive a light with the ability to grant a certain girl’s wish. This happens while he looks at Misae’s cat, just before he passes out.
When Misae was in high school, she would often try to find chances to spend time with a boy named Iguraishi. This was one day interrupted by a boy named Shima Katsuki, however, who Igurashi mistakingly assumed was Misae’s boyfriend. After Katsuki later introduced himself to Misae, and making her recall the time that they met in middle school, he gave her the chance to make any wish she desired. Katsuki stated that this was his power, but Misae only gave him simple ideas before leaving him. As Katsuki continually returned to Misae, she scolded him for causing misunderstandings for her friends and Igurashi. As the two continued to spend time with each other though, Misae became more friendly towards Katsuki. One day, Katsuki had met Iguraishi before seeing Misae after school. Iguraishi revealed that he knew Misae’s feelings, but he actually already had a girlfriend. With Igurashi’s wish for him to tell this to Misae, Katsuki appeared to be very sad when Misae met him that afternoon. Tears began falling out of Katsuki’s eyes by the time he tried to tell Misae the truth, and when she saw Igurashi pass by with his girlfriend later, Misae could only run from Katsuki in shock.
Preview: Emo shouta attack.
Impression:
Yeeaaaaa shoutas for the win! Misae for the win! I am freaking loving this side character development. I was originally iffy about After Story after seeing that it would be lasting for two seasons, but at this rate, I really feel like I will be enjoying myself. I probably never noticed because of how little Misae showed up before, but hearing Satsuki Yukino (Chidori in FMP!, Mion/Shion in Higurashi) play her is really nice. It will be interesting to see how things develop between Misae and Katsuki, even if we seemingly already know that Katsuki will become Misae’s cat. It looks like the two became quite close, but since Misae’s wish was mentioned to Tomoya, I assume that her wish was never granted. Either way, since the next episode looks like it will be continuing in the past, I am really looking forward to learning more.
Notes:
- Still loving the robot and loli adventures. How pretty.
- A cat is fine too.
- Tomoya and Nagisa’s relationship is always made fun of!
- Nagisa is a tattle-tale.
- Almost forgot that “supernatural” was part of this series’ genre.
- Sanae’s beat downs are so Kaname.
- Credit to Mellow Bunny for reminding me what a seesaw is called. I grew up in the electronic age, k.

KyoAni really knows how to do an adaptation considering how well they are managing their time with ~After Story~. Makes you wonder if they’re going to do the rest of the side stories as well, not to mention the Kyou/Ryou route which wasn’t really done in S1.
Am I the only one who didn’t enjoy Youhei + Mei arc ?? I thought the last arc of Clanad was kinda lame. Oh well, I hope the sub of this episode come out soon. Hmmm…..it seems like it may have somewhat sad ending for this arc. What I’m looking for the most is Yukine’s arc XD
@kenshin514:
Dude, the Sunahara+Mei arc are awesome.
Y’know that scene where Tomoya’s all goin’ MOE MOE over Mei calling him “Onii-chan”?

Reverse foreplay?
Kenshi514: Yes, you were.
Rockfest: It’s nearly impossible to sneak in Kyou/Ryou’s arc (more Kyou than Ryou’s actually) since it focused HEAVILY on the romance aspect of the game — to the point that Ryou and Tomoya were actually DATING for most of it — that made it incompatible to the ‘core’ that Nagisa’s story has become. Everyone else — yes, even Fuuko and Kotomi — could still be squeezed into Nagisa’s story since, even if you cut out the romantic bits, still could stand on their own enough, yet didn’t intrude too much into Nagisa’s storyline. With Kyou… Well, take out the romance, and you basically had a tsundere stealing her sister’s boyfriend.

Well, I don’t totally hate it. mean, the ending was kinda nice where Tomoya and Youhei didn’t say that they are sorry to each other and yet they laugh in the end which show that the bond the they have. But seriously everything else from too typical soccer bullies club to Youhei didn’t protect Mei because he think Tomoya is the one who should protect her little sister. I mean, come one Mei is like 11 or 12 ?? Tomoya is 17 or 18. If Tomoya didn’t say that in the end of episode 3 then Youhei would never misunderstood. Yes, you can say that Tomoya tried to help and show that what Youhei doing isn’t right but I thought he could have done better than that.
No wonder. So the VA voiced Chidori in FMP. One of Misae’s wrestling moves was very similar to the one Chidori did to Sagara in FMP:Fumoffu
Clannad After Story – 24: Kyou and Ryou Chapter
lololo
Season 1 of Clannad was anything, but well managed in terms of time… Too much fuuko and Kotomi for no real reason… Funny enough, neither chars had any significance to the story aside from additional baw factor (if one decided to baw at their stories which imo weren’t baw worthy).
I went and looked at the cast list after the episode. I had forgotten that Satsuki Yukino was playing Misae. (though it definitely fit) This is like the third character abusing female roll I’ve seen of her. For those who watch Gintama she also voices Otae; Shinpachi’s older sister who frequently beats the crap out of Gintoki and Kondo.
However, I saw something on the list I didn’t expect. Paku Romi played the little Shouta/Cat. I didn’t recognize her at all and she’s one of my favorite seiyuu. I had to rewatch half the episode with that new knowledge. It makes sense though, that last scene was so emotional I started to get a little teary-eyed. (which is an accomplishment) Nothing less from one of my favorites.
