Summary:

As Shima waits at the school gates in the morning, he learns from Yuki and Saki that Misae will not be coming. The girls quickly guess that something dealing with Igarashi had happened, but they further suggest that Shima is actually more fitting for Misae. Shima actually finds Misae on a bench after walking a short distance, then attempting to comfort her with tissues and suggestions of love. Misae easily guesses that her friends put Shima up to this, then only suggesting that he come up with something to say by himself. Shima can only apologize, and although Misae agrees that he has some negative traits about him, she reveals that it is not his fault that she is feeling down at the moment. Misae wonders if Shima had thought of this as a chance, like she suggested previously, but she quickly guesses that this wouldn’t be the case. When Shima implies that he does like Misae, she wonders what parts of her are appealing. Shima states that her scolding, worrying, and smell while doing wresting type moves are good, and although Misae thinks the last suggestion is quite strange, she thanks him either way.

On the following day, Yuki and Saki see that Misae is quite happy spending time with Shima. Misae brings up the upcoming festival activities to Shima while walking home with him, along with her wish that he would attend them with her. Shima learns that Misae is quite busy with activities when he visits the school on another day, and when Yuki and Saki hear his wish to see her at work, they come up with a plan to sneak him into the school. Shima eventually makes it to Misae while dressed up as a girl, and he cannot help but make something of a confession to her when Ibuki-sensei helps him meet her. As Misae could only see Shima as a cute girl, Yuki and Saki are extremely amused nearby. While dressing back up in his normal clothes later, Shima sees a small bag fall from his belongings. This makes him remember his original purpose for being there. Yuki and Saki then decide to visit Shima’s house to play, but while on the way, Shima realizes that he cannot remember where his house is actually suppose to be.

The three eventually reach what appears to be Shima’s house, but when an older woman greets them, Shima realizes that the true Katsuki has already died. Eventually alone later, Shima remembers that the true Katsuki was actually the person he admired the most. He was someone that he had spent quite a long time with. When Shima meets her for the festival, Misae reveals that she actually knew that it was him the previous day. After enjoying themselves for quite some time, Shima finally brings the wish back up to Misae. He suggests that there is a light inside of his bag that would grant her wish, but when he opens it, he is surprised to see that it is empty. With this, Misae guesses that it is because her current self did not need it. What is important is that she was happy. Misae does decide to make a wish, however: that Shima was always love her. When Misae gives Shima a kiss, he is brought to tears. Thanking Misae, Shima realizes that he had truly come to love her. Misae leaves for a bit to get drinks, but when she returns, she panics at the lost sight of Shima. When she finally catches sight of him, Shima only disappears from her after promising that he would love her forever.

Sometime in the future, Misae had returned to the school dorms. A cat had followed her, and stayed with her ever since. In the present time, Nagisa finally wakes Tomoya from a long nap. As the two leave the dorms, Tomoya realizes that Shima has always wanted to tell something to Misae. During the yearly festival later, Nagisa notices that Tomoya has continually had something on his mind. Shima eventually shows up before the two, followed by Misae who has been following him ever since he left the dorms. While Shima hides from Misae for a bit, Tomoya suggests that there was something that he had always wanted to tell Misae. With this, he confirms the words he heard from him in the dream from the previous night. Shima had apologized for not being able to stay at the festival with her, and had promised to love her forever. Shima’s wish was for Misae’s happiness. With this new realization, Misae decides to enjoy the festival with Shima once again. Seemingly speaking with Katsuki, Shima can only wonder if he fulfilled his master’s desires. However, he also asks for forgiveness because of his wish to only spend time with Misae from now on.

Preview: Y..Y…..Yukine…!?

Impression:

Misae! She blushes when female Shima confesses to her! A cat is fine too! This episode was so awesome, from laughs to shocks to super love power emotion. I absolutely loved watching Shima and Misae spend time with each other, and seeing cameos from Yoshino and Ibuki was just an added bonus. There’s always something about time skips and flashbacks that just get me. I know I can’t be the only one who always has this feeling! And though I already mentioned the similarities Misae had with a certain other character because of voice association, Yui Kano (Momoko in Sumomomo Momomo, Sakura in Wagaya no Oinarisama) and Romi Paku (Hitsugaya in Bleach, Nana in NANA) were also a lot more prominent in my ears this week. It’s always nice to see that Kyoani can afford having some of the best voice talents in their productions. I really enjoyed this short arc, so I hope the next one dealing with Yukine can fulfill the high expectations I now have for this season of Clannad.

Notes:

  • You can use it as toilet paper, lol.
  • Sagara and Sagara. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.
  • I like it when they get all blushy.
  • Why does Yoshino look so much like Tomoya?
  • What’s with pretty boys and the hair?
  • This show is all about the head tilts.
  • Sandals are always the end of lovers at the festival!

Shouta-Trap-Furry and Boku! all rolled into one! These stories really makes Clannad, Clannad. Yukine’s arc should at least bring a tear to your eye, it was amazingly touching. A few more side stories to go before truly begins ~After Story~.

The apartment better put sparkles in your eyes to make up for the missing of blushing and holding hands!

Wait… does this mean Shima’s a trap, a shota, or a loli? Or is it all three? Jason Miao is going to be SO broken by this.

Haesslich: All and none of the above I’m afraid. You do have to recall that Shima is a CAT… Then again, Kuro seems to think that a cat is fine as well…

I know Shima’s a cat, but when Shima appears as a human (per the above example), I wonder. Especially since Jason’s broken enough to maybe consider a traptastic cat.

I really like this episode. I like how the cat plays the role of messenger between Shima and Misae. Pretty good arc overall. Although, two of my friends thought that Shima is like a super wuss so they was laughing and shaking their head entire time XD
