Clannad After Story - 07
Yukine secretly hangs out with BAD people…
Summary:
Noticing the lights and changing weather in the alternate world, the robot boy realizes that many things have started to chance. The young girl has been sleeping for much longer periods of time, but when she wakes on the particular day, she learns that the robot would like to travel to the lands beyond what they can see from their home. The girl warns the robot that she may stop being able to move when the upcoming winter approaches, and that they would probably lose sight of their home, but he still insists on going. The robot believes that the days would always be enjoyable in the lands beyond. Tomoya, Nagisa, and Youhei visit Yukine one day, surprised to see that there are also cooking utensils in the library’s reference room. Tomoya wonders if Yukine ever does anything outside of the room, but she denies because of the various people who always visit. Upon this mention, a man named Sudo enters the room with several injuries.
Having gotten into a fight recently, Sudo almost suggests that he should go on a journey. Yukine tells him not to, suggesting how sad everyone would be if he did, then giving him a charm and advice to make things better. Sudo eventually explains that Yukine is something of an aneki to he and several others, as she always takes care of them when they are in trouble. Another delinquent eventually enters the room to challenge Sudo, and not wanting to trouble Yukine further, the two exit to continue what they started earlier. While walking home with Tomoya and the others later, Yukine explains that her brother is the leader of the group that Sudo belongs to. This group is always in rivalry with their opposing one. Yukine further explains that her brother is someone who has never lost a fight, and one that seems to lead his group from the shadows. His name is Kazuto.
A young boy eventually approaches Yukine in hopes of regaining her older sister, mistaking her as playing the role her brother actually does. The group eventually visits Youhei’s dorm so that the boy can properly explain himself, and Yukine clears up his misunderstanding in the process. The boy, Yuu, suggests that his sister went to the Miyazawa group after a suggestive message earlier. After learning that Yuu’s sister is 21 though, Youhei can only suggest to him that he is worrying more than he should. Either way, Yukine and the others still agree to help Yuu find his sister. This leads to Youhei bringing Yuu to the high school, as he teaches him how men are suppose to act. Yukine eventually gets a phone call confirming that Yuu’s sister has been found, so the group travels to meet her.
When the group reaches the shop they have agreed to meet at, Yuu is quickly greeted by his sister. Tomoya and the others find that the members inside are surprisingly friendly, but having pretended to be Kazuto in front of Yuu for quite awhile, Youhei’s fears are met quite properly. As the group spends some time getting to know the others in the bar throughout the day, Yukine explains that the members here are all those who do not get along with their families. Kazuto’s situation is not much different. As Kazuto is not currently there, Tomoya wonders if there are any pictures that he could see of him. Although there are none available, Yukine mentions that several people say that he resembles her quite a bit.
While Tomoya and the others walk home that night, members from the rival gang approach them with mistaken information that Youhei is Kazuto. The group runs from these men, and are unexpectedly saved by Tomoyo. Tomoyo had been in the area after hearing of the various fights that have been there recently, not wanting students to get involved. After seeing her friends there though, she wishes to know why they are in such an area as well.
Preview: Fighting legend Yukine…..or something.
Impression:
Yukine totally fits the image of a gang member! I dunno though. Maybe it was the overall greatness of the last arc, or that I’m not as big of a Yukine fan as I apparently should be, but I didn’t enjoy this episode as much as the first episodes of the past two arcs. The story was just so out there that I really couldn’t feel any attachment to it at all. I did find Yukine’s interaction with Sudo and the others hilarious though, especially with the return of her super amazing charms. Her cooking fried rice in the library reference room was possibly the most random thing I’ve seen in this show too, and most of this episode had the general Clannad funnies scattered about. (I loved watching Nagisa get jealous over Tomoya.) The next episode does suggest a bit more development for Yukine among other things, so hopefully I’ll become more excited about that when it comes around.
Oh, and I’m still loving the intro scenes with the robot and cute girl. With so much focus on this, I’m looking forward to some kind of major conclusion towards the end.

And now everyone understands why the Yakuza aneue image fits Yukine (or should I say Yuki-nee) so well.
way to keep a franchise alive. I though I was done with this and then ‘After Story’ just drew me back. I especially love how they are really fleshing out the supporting cast and Yukine was one I was looking forward to, although I myself was unsure of how it could top the last arc.
It will be entertaining to watch nonetheless
You should word that properly, Totali. She’s not a member. Yukine is basically… a princess with a scary army to protect her. >_>
When did I say she was. D:
pretty cool episode
There has been significant deviation from Yukine’s arc in the visual novel (which was to be expected), I’m really looking forward to the next episode though.
Especially with Tomoyo showing up, I’m wondering where they’re taking this.
