Summary:

As the festival preparations continue at school, Taiga has been returning home only to meet her father and going to fancy restaurants at night. While watching how Taiga tries to hide her happiness about this, Ryuji realizes that both she and her father are doing their best. During a day at school, Taiga presents Ami with a gift of candies from one of the restaurants she visited. Of course, she wishes for a favor dealing with her role in the play in exchange. Minori meanwhile finds out what has been going on between Taiga and her father from Ryuji, surprising him by expressing quite a bit of distaste with it. According to Minori, Taiga should not be fooled by her father. Ryuji becomes quite angry upon hearing this, suggesting that Minori does not know anything, but she suggests the same to him. Taiga attempts to stop the argument between her two friends, but Ryuji only leaves as Minori is also left in a cold state.

Ami finds Ryuji in her hallway spot in the aftermath, as he expresses his worry about Minori who had even left school early. As Ami attempts to cheer him up while going back to practice, Ryuji notices that she has certainly changed. Wanting to change too, Ryuji asks for advice on how he could do this. Of course, Ami suggests that he think about this on his own. Ami is obviously quite different from Taiga who clings closely to Ryuji, and Minori who shines brightly before him, so she simply claims that she will take the highroad they are sharing a bit earlier than Ryuji. When Ryuji returns home, he learns from Yasuko that Taiga’s father plans on moving away with his daughter because the neighboring mansion is too small. Ryuji finds that even Yasuko does not agree with Taiga’s father, as he has suddenly come to Taiga while deciding many things on his own. When Taiga returns home, she tells to Ryuji that he apologize to Minori. Although Ryuji expresses that he planned on making it clear that he wasn’t wrong, Taiga suggests that there is something more important to apologize for.

Taiga continues to remind Ryuji to apologize to Minori just before the actual play is going to start at the festival. The play itself turns out to be an overall success due to the promotion and effort from the actors, even pleasing Yuri. Afterwards, Ryuji mentions his noticing that Taiga seems to have received a mail from her father. However, she refuses to give the details to him. Despite the class celebrating its great success after the festivities end, Taiga seems devastated because of being unable to perform the big role she requested.

Preview: Annnnnd… part three.

Impression:

Ryuji. Why did you steal Taiga’s indirect kiss? Why. First Ami’s spot….now this!!!

While this episode did get us through the major festival event, as well as introducing new conflicts in the forms of Taiga’s moving and Minori and Ryuji’s argument, I still feel like we won’t get to the real climax till next week. There obviously has to be some transition though, and this felt like a good one with the various dialogs between Ryuji and Ami among others. Watching the actual play was also quite entertaining, with all the set changes being shown between the action that everyone should have been imagining. Yuri-CHAN sensei was also hella cool with her crowd surfing abilities. She was totally ready to mosh.

Notes:

  • Taiga headbutt attack!
  • She will also lure you out with candy.
  • SHAKE HANDS!
  • Ya-chan noooOOOOOooo…
  • Ryuji would totally fit in with a visual-key band.
  • The Ami goes….”fufufufu…”
  • “It’s not like you have to drink my coffee or anything….”
  • Perfect Taiga melting animation this week. Hilarious.

quality, Ryuuji’s interaction with Minori and Ami was solid, but lol at Yuri-chan sensei. I hope Taiga’s moving doesn’t percolate for too long in the series, hmm.

Needs more screaming batshit-insane Yuri-sensei (as voiced by Tanaka Rie). Although… didn’t Taiga FORCE an indirect kiss on Ryuuji, rather than him stealing it?
