Maria-sama ga Miteru 4th Season - 02
odenwa?
Summary:
Upon reaching the Yamayurikai festival, Sei and Yoko take note of a certain girl attempting to climb over the school’s gates. Having her stop this in favor of more conventional means of entering the festival, the two then learn that the girl’s name is Hosokawa Yuko. With this, they note that she does seem familiar to someone else they know. Yoshino expresses her enthusiasm about the festival to Yumi within the school grounds, but even though she is suppose to be helping her, Yumi eventually leaves her to talk to Kanako when she sees her. Yumi soon notices that Kanako has three tickets in her hands, but after she questions if she did not give them to her relatives, Kanako only hides them from sight. Further more, when Touko appears, she takes the chance to leave. Yumi then gives meal tickets to Touko, promising to see her class’s event during the day. Yumi is soon called back by Yoshino though, and the surrounding Roses quickly become busy with the photography and newspaper club’s activities. Yumi tries to get back to Touko after all this in vain, but she is given her thanks by a nearby student.
Yumi plans out what she will do during the festival later, but her thoughts are interrupted when Yuko bumps into her. After apologizing, Yuko asks Yumi if there is a phone nearby. Mistaking her as asking for the location of oden, Yumi gives her incorrect directions. Yumi soon meets Sei and Yoko, and the two quickly point out that it is Yumi who Yuko reminded them of. Though Yumi doesn’t initially realize that this is the person she just met, when she sees a phone in the school building, she realizes the mistake she had made only moments ago. The three visit Sachiko’s class next, but find that Sachiko has been called by the nurse. While waiting for her, Sei has the girls participate in the nearby games with her. Kanako appears during this, requesting that Yumi help hide her. Yumi and the others notice Yuko passing by the classroom while doing so, then seeing that it is her who Kanako is trying to avoid. Sachiko soon appears to greet everyone, but with a serious look on her face, she has Kanako follow her to the infirmary.
Sachiko explains that she was called to the nurse’s office in belief that her father was there, but in actuality, her father had left to New York the previous day. The man inside certainly wasn’t Sachiko’s father, but he had Sachiko’s tickets given to him by Suguru. Finally, Sachiko reveals that it was Kanako’s father inside. Kanako is initially hesitant in entering the infirmary to see her father, but when Sachiko mentions his earlier wish to use a bed, she runs into the office in panic. When Kanako sees her father in good health, she can only blame him for her mother’s divorce and Yuko’s unhappiness. When Yuko appears, however, she finally tells Kanako that she is mistaken. Back when Yuko was no longer able to play basketball because of injuries, she sought help from Yuko’s father who was a coach with similar experiences. Eventually, she had come to love him. With this, she apologizes for causing Kanako pain by not explaining things properly to her earlier. In response to Yuko’s tears, Kanako also expresses her realization that her father had done several things for her mother’s sake as well, like giving her hope in continuing her work. Afterwards, Yuko introduces Kanako to her baby sister Chikako. This was the reason her father had come to the infirmary earlier.
Yumi soon realizes that she is late for Touko’s performance, so Sachiko has her rush to the scene. Yumi meets Touko after her great performance, then having her keep her earlier promise while still in costume. At the Yamayurikai’s play, Yumi takes special note of Kanako who seemed to have more spirit than usual while acting. Sachiko meets Yumi outside later in the night, reminding her that it is the anniversary of their becoming soeurs. Sachiko explains that she did not have anything planned for the day, not because she forgot or anything like that, but because she did not see the day as particularly special. As Yumi would continue to be her imouto even afterwards, every day is special. Yumi soon finds that Sachiko is a liar, however, as she instructs her to find an imouto of her own.
Preview: Gee, I wonder who it will be.
Impression:
I’m going to have to go ahead and give a disclaimer before I start saying anything about this episode: I’m still not sure if I will be covering Marimite throughout the season. This is for the same reasons I stated last week, as I still don’t think I’m as qualified as others to blog this show properly. Not being as attached to this series as other devoted fans are, I tend to skim through a lot of details in favor of paying attention to far more shallow things. To prove this point, I had no idea who Yuko was suppose to be coming into this episode. The only thing I remembered about Kanako’s father was that he was suppose to be one of the major things that made Kanako hate men. I also feel like I’m at a loss of things to say about this show in general, and it overall feels like one of those shows I would rather sit back and watch than try to discuss.
That said, this episode was about as enjoyable as any other Marimite episode. It looks like Kanako’s major conflict is finally out of the picture after so long, and by the end of the episode, it was finally time for Yumi to take action in finding an imouto for herself. Too bad it’s really obvious how this is going to turn out, as even without the spoiler-filled intro and ED, all signs were pointing towards Touko throughout the third season and the overall series in general. Kanako’s stalking just can’t live up to Touko’s tsundere drills! Sachiko’s finally giving Yumi an order by the end made for a beautiful scene though, and I can’t wait to see how things develop in the next episode. One can only wonder how the twintail combo will turn out when it finally happens.
Notes:
- Gokigenyou!
- Ohh~!
- Return of the super lesbian, Sei.
- Hello there, Kawasumi Ayako.
- I am amazed that the giant Kanako was actually able to hide.
- Sachiko’s srs bsns face is brilliant.

Totali totally would watch Akikan and give it a 10.
Go back to MAL, kids.
I dunno, Jigoku Shoujo is still on Saturday. There are also a couple new shows airing this week. Honestly, I’ll decide what I can handle after classes start in a few days. =\
Thanks for blog this.
I read the 18th novel and they did an amazing job with the festival. I look forward to the whole season!
