Summary:

With Sachiko’s previous order, Yumi wonders what she should do in the Rose Mansion. This has Yoshino trying to find possible ways of gaining an imouto as well. Yoshino recalls the chances that Shimako had when she made Noriko her soeur, as well as the options Yumi already has currently, then deciding that she would have to have an audition to find her own soeur. When Sachiko enters, she takes interest in Yoshino’s idea. She even suggests that Yumi should do the same, only making her hurry out of the mansion with a promise to find a soeur before she has to rely on that. Yumi recalls events from the past that were much like this, and when she bumps into someone right outside, she wonders if she has met her destined soeur. This only turns out to be Rei, however.

Rei worries about Yoshino’s sudden willingness to find a soeur, and after giving her suggestions of putting off the audition, she clearly sees that something is pushing Yoshino towards the decision. Yoshino finally brings up the time during the sports festival where she claimed to Eriko that there was a potential imouto she had taken interest in. Although this was more like a challenge for Yoshino, she makes it seem as if she was concerned about Eriko to the Roses. Yumi is still not completely comfortable with the audition as the days pass, so after meeting with the Roses again, she and Yoshino decide to hold a tea party rather than an actual audition. Yumi requests that some of the Roses help with this, but Sachiko and Rei promptly withdrawal.

Noriko remains hesitant about Yumi and Yoshino’s decision as the submissions are brought up in the following days, and can’t help but notice the girls around her spreading rumors about Touko’s reputation as one wanting to enter the Yamayurikai. Noriko eventually asks Touko her opinion of Yumi, but after expressing her wish to help her, Touko angrily denies her need for help. Of course, Noriko easily sees why when students pass by to talk about her soon after. Noriko brings up the various talk about Touko to the Roses later, which Yumi takes a great amount of concern in. Noriko is brought to tears while Shimako is with her afterwards, and wiping the tears from her face afterwards, Shimako clearly sees how much Noriko likes Touko.

Kanako eventually meets Yumi, then confirming to her that she has no plans on entering the competition. With all that she has done for her though, she is clearly happy and thankful towards Yumi. Yumi finally suggests that they take a picture together, and as she runs hand in hand with Kanako, she confirms that they will be friends despite not becoming soeurs. In other places, Sachiko finally confronts Touko about her not entering the competition. She states that she does not care who Yumi chooses as a soeur, but watching Touko as she is now, she feels irritated. After Sachiko leaves, Noriko reveals that she had even prepared to enter Touko into the competition herself. Seeing that Touko doesn’t want anyone to make decisions for herself though, she rips the sheet in half. Though nothing has occurred yet, Noriko hopes that Touko’s heart would begin to move with what has happened.

Impression:

What!? Kanako loses!? DROPPING NOW. I forgot how slow this series was. I mistakenly suspected that Touko would be chosen right away in this episode, but looking at this week’s preview, it doesn’t even look like that will be happening in the fourth episode. I guess this match up will definitely be the focus of the season, but with the ridiculous ED sequences, it’s just a game of waiting for the inevitable at the moment. This episode didn’t really have much going on either. Sure, the competition was started, but I really don’t feel like this is going to go anywhere productive. Maybe Yoshino will at least gain some kind of direction after this? Watching Touko get super pissed was pretty fun, but who isn’t sitting around just waiting for her to go back to being dere about Yumi? I mean, come on~.
