Clannad After Story – 19
FU-FU-FU-……FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!
Summary:
Tomoya and Ushio return to the Furukawa bakery, and while visiting Nagisa’s room later, Tomoya takes the chance to apologize and thank Sanae for what she has done for him. From now on, of course, he would take care of Ushio as he should have been. The family continues to get reacquainted as Tomoya plays baseball with Akio later, further having a drink with him that night. While spending the night at the house, Tomoya wakes to the sound of Sanae and Akio talking outside. Akio reveals that Sanae had not cried for the past five years, and the two realize that they were saved by Ushio. Akio confirms that Sanae no longer has to hold back though, and as he would be with her from now on, Sanae replies by crying on Akio’s shoulder. The next morning marks Tomoya’s finally living together with Ushio. He promises to visit the Furukawas as much as he can, however, knowing their circumstances.
Tomoya drops Ushio off at her school, and overhearing some mothers talking about him from not far away, he calls out to them and introduces himself. If Tomoya was his past self, he probably wouldn’t have responded to their talking about him in the same polite manner. At work, Yusuke offers his help to Tomoya if he were to ever need it. Tomoya actually takes this chance right away. When Tomoya returns to pick up Ushio at her school, he learns that the teacher he had met earlier is actually a substitute. Ushio’s real teacher would be returning later. After taking Ushio home, Tomoya goes back to work. By the time he returns to the ever so creative Ushio, he brings back many items from the Furukawa household.
While buying groceries later, Tomoya and Ushio run into Koko. After Tomoya introduces Ushio to her, Koko reveals that her sister is with her after having been released from the hospital. With this, Tomoya and Ushio meet Fuuko. Fuuko acts quite strangely towards Tomoya, and obsesses over Ushio, leading Koko to explain that she acts much younger than she actually is because of having been asleep for so long. After dinner that night, Tomoya realizes that Ushio is fond of the Dango Daikazoku as well. Sanae had told her that the plush dolls they own contained Nagisa’s aroma, which Ushio loved.
The next morning, having taken a break from work, Tomoya takes Ushio to visit his father. When the two enter the old household, Naoyuki seems as run down as he has been for a long time. When Tomoya finally gets his attention, he proposes that he finally rest as his mother had suggested. After awhile, Tomoya finally convinces his father that he had worked hard enough for his family. Tomoya finally sees his father off after awhile, and while giving his goodbyes, he is brought to tears from recalling the happy times he spent with him in the past. As Tomoya watches Naoyuki leave, Ushio watches as an orb of light enters her father’s chest.
Preview: More U-SHI-O fun time!
Impression:
Fu-ko! Fu-ko! Fu-ko-chan-is-back!!!! Yea! So, that’s pretty much the only thing in this episode that mattered. Washa~!
…Well, I wish I could say that anyways. I didn’t think it would happen again so soon, but my eyes were definitely teary by the end of this episode. Tomoya’s reconciliation with his father was something we were all expecting since last week, but it was even more touching when Tomoya actually spoke to him. Before that, the messages sent throughout the Furukawa family simply reinforced the themes that Clannad represents so well. The light orbs finally made their first major appearance in the series too, with Ushio’s clearly seeing one being absorbed into Tomoya’s chest. Most fans would remember that light orbs have appeared before, but the sights were much more subtle. This plays into the usual theme of children being able to see things that adults cannot, which is one that I’ve always loved. And for those who haven’t played the game or have been spoiled otherwise, I’m sure it won’t take long to see where the story is headed now.
Other fun tidbits in this episode included the now typical Ushio goodness, and the obvious hints towards Kyou being the one teaching Ushio’s class. Ushio’s Botan picture was awesome!
Notes:
- Tomoya always gotta be hitting on those milfs.
- Gossiping housewives!
- Two guys, one Ushio.
- Just six more dragonballs, and we can make a wish!!!
- Fuuko’s chance to kidnap Ushio has finally come.

ushio is just to cute..it has to be illegal to be that cute.
EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUKO HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU SO!! <3333
Actually, what surprised me is the fact that, until now, Yusuke and Koko STILL haven’t had any kids of their own, despite being much older than Tomoya or Nagisa.
Also, Fuuko!
Yep, Fuuko is great, but only in small doses. As long as we don’t have any of those goddamn starfishes or re-appearing acts, it should be fine.
+1.
Noooooooooo Ushio plz don’t don’t don’t…
Fuko…HAS APPEARED! And now I won’t be able to sleep tonight. No. Not until Sprocket Holes releases their sub.
gentlemen and ladies…. i am preparing boxes upon boxes of tissue paper for the coming episodes….. BAWWW fest alert….

On a message board, someone made a reference to “balls of light”, and I really had to put some effort in to avoid referencing a certain meme from the show…
And by “show”, I mean Dragonball Z, because I suck at quoting.
DONT BE SHOCKED TO THE NEXT EPISODES!!!!! Lets enjoys USHIO’’s cuteness….. shes so very cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, don’t worry about the reappearing, as Fuuko is now truly physically back, she won’t be magically teleporting out from nowhere anymore. Though her antics are still there, even though she’s already 25-26. (Same age as Tomoya, while Tomoya has baggy eyes from all these years of mourning, Fuuko has hardly aged a bit. )
Tomoya was 18 when Ushio was born, and it’s been 5 years since then. Therefore, Fuko is 23. And she’s only a head and a half taller than Ushio. Congratulations, Fuko. You are officially a migit. But you could pass off as a 7 year old…6 year old. I wish she remembered Tomoya. D; The saddest part is that her best friend Nagisa has passed away and she doesn’t even remember her exsisting. Although, maybe that is for the best? I don’t want to see Fuko upset. D:
Fuuko has aged neither mentally, or physically. Is she immortal, or something? What kind of 25-26yr old can pose as a freaking high school freshmen? In her case, she hardly looked like a highschooler to begin with, so what? She can pose as a middle school kid? But still, I find it amazing, that it took her the nearly 11 years to wake up (she was in a comatose 3 years before she met Tomoya & Nagisa in ghost form, and about another 7-8 years after the graduation). A normal person would probably have gone into shock from the fact that everyone around them has long moved on from high school, even started families of their own, yet they’ve yet to graduate from high school. In a way, her life would be pretty tragic, if not for the fact that she was a natural air-head.
“What kind of 25-26yr old can pose as a freaking high school freshmen?”
Reply: the kind of people that can look 23 year old at fifty?
“My teacher has long hair (Kyou!), is beautiful (Kyooouuu!!!), and kind (Ky… uh?)” There must be a mistake somewhere!
Anyway, I already can’t wait for Kyou to appear again. (Tomoya, you should marry with Kyou! She loves you, and your child already loves her! It’s a sure win!)
I guess people don’t age when they’re in a comatose…
Fu-chan~ She’s such a kid :3 Playing in the sand. Some awesome Fushio action! Its just too cute.
back fuko-chan X3 i`m glad so she didn`t died but she was age 23 she `s such a kid -w-; playing in the sand but she forget about star owo;
Oh…my…God…
That song in the beginning was hilarious. Perfect pronounciation of a string of nonsense X_X
Loved the episode. Made me cry…again… T_T Fuuko’s weird faces and speeches really brought out the ’starfish love’ in me.
Some spoilers said Tomoya might remarry (they say it’s Ryou), but I prefer the other spoiler about reviving a certain person because I still love her. (I guess the balls of light and robot with girl thing was pretty signifcant then) If Tomoya did remarry, I’d pick Tomoyo. ^^
MOeeee!!
But good episode anyway. lol
I was actually half-expecteing a Dictionary-related attack when Tomoya was leaving the school…darn…
Ushio really is quite an endearing & huggable kid…and she definitely acts her age unlike most anime child characters.
Good to see Papa-san getting himself together and realizing that he wasn’t the only one hurting as he realized that Sanae and Akii has experienced the pain that no parents should bear.
ushio is just to cute..it has to be illegal to be that cute.
The kid’s voice fits her perfectly, as well.
i love Fu-chun <~
i love Fu-chun <3 I love her starfish : )))
I love Ushio. The voice actor does such an amazing job.
And I love how Tomoya and Ushio get along. So cute and lovable it hurts.
Chiorin, Tomoya graduated when he was 18, then it took another year before Nagisa’s turn to graduate, that’ll make him 19 then. And of course, there’s the nine months Nagisa has to give birth to Ushio, by which time Tomoya will be around 20.
Since Fuuko’s the same age as Tomoya, that’ll put her at 25-26 right now. As Rawr mentions, Fuuko should be lucky she’s a natural air-head, which will soften the blow of her waking up to find things very different, coupled with the fact she’s blessed with eternal youthfulness (much like her sister Kouko-san), she’s got time on her side.
In fact, if she were to enroll back in high school as a 1st year, she’ll fit right in without anyone suspecting.
OMGG Fuuukoo is backkk. Im sooo happy XD SHe looks like a kid!! XD
OMG SECOND ORB, w00t!
