Summary:

  • The class starts to ski upon reaching the resort, and in a short exchange with her, Ryuji learns that Taiga had met with Yusaku without his knowledge when he was sick.
  • Hisamitsu eventually gets into an argument with Nanako because of her way of pursuing Yusaku, and even more conflict is created when even Yusaku cannot comprehend why the two are arguing.
  • Ryuji later meets Minori in the inn, and when she starts to talk about the previous fight, he realizes that she would really continue to pretend that the past events between them never happened. Further more, Ryuji sees that Minori had received his hairpin from Taiga in an indirect way.
  • The boys drag Ryuji out of bed while he is sulking, then visiting the girls’ room. The group initially finds it empty, then ending up hiding in the closet with Taiga when she appears.
  • After the girls return, Ami eventually taunts Minori about her turning down Ryuji. With all of the complications dealing with Taiga among others, Minori quickly denies that Ami knows anything about her.
  • The next day, the two girls finally break into a fight. Most of the class appears to prevent them from going any further, but Taiga disappears after seeing Minori’s hairpin lost in the conflict.
  • A heavy snowstorm takes place that night, but despite this, Yusaku, Ryuji, and Minori enter it to find Taiga.
  • At the sight of Minori’s hairpin, Ryuji eventually finds a collapsed Taiga. While carrying her back, she mistakes him for Yusaku. Taiga reveals that she could not pull through with her initial plans, as in the end, she truly loved Ryuji.

Preview: Fluttering emotions!

Impression:

F U!!!!! Aroduc really gives me that frequent test, proving whether or not I can still claim that spoilers don’t affect my enjoyment of shows. Thankfully, I can continue to hold my ground this time, because this week’s Toradora was spectacular either way. I’m sounding like a broken record here, but I’m still amazed at how this series constantly takes cliched lovcom moments (hiding in the girls closet), and turns them into really insightful developments full of strong characterization. I absolutely loved Ami’s dialog in this episode, as she revealed that what she hated the most about Minori was her refusal to show her true emotions. The visual direction in this episode was great as well, especially during the quarrel the girls had towards the end. And obviously, the biggest part of this episode would be Taiga’s unknowingly confessing to Ryuji. With only four episodes left, I can’t wait to see how everything turns out by the end.

Notes:

  • DVD specials are for chumps. Thanks.
  • Still never heard of a high school that goes on class ski trips…
  • Ryuji is a pervert…….of cleanliness.
  • Oho! Gurl talk, guyz~
  • Four guys and one very small girl…….in a closet.
  • Ami is butthurt…literally.
  • Hana Yori Dango, anyone?

    Victory is mine!

The way Taiga confessed was DAWWWWWWWWWW. It was toradorable. I thought it was a pretty awesome way to disclose why Taiga prayed to Kitamura in episode 20. Also, man, the seiyuu cast for this show is ridiculously awesome. For the main cast, anyways.

The confession scene itself was probably one of the sweetest moments in anime I’ve seen this year, or any other year. It was DAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. I sort of feel sorry for people who initially skipped this show thinking Taiga would be a clone of her other 3 loli tsundere predecessors.

I know of some classes that would go on a ski trip. They tend ot be rather expensive and optional. It is usually only done for a class that is tight knit or just the seniors (band classes in a prime example because they tend to go on trips for competitions, sometimes to other countries…they become closer than most class groups.)

See what happens when you talk to bad men?

Totally agree with Rawr there. Taiga’s dazed confession was the best moment in the series thus far. The setup to it was a little ridiculous though as everybody failed to spot the obvious tracks in clear conditions. I guess they are all blinded by the snow or something.

I remember that my elementary school and secondary schools had ski trips, although they don’t stay overnight (more like a field trip) and they are optional. I didn’t go because I was poor and not a fan of winter sports :<.

Angry Minori makes me think Higurashi o.o Makes me think of more Rena. All happy go lucky all the time but then RAWR! faced and stuff << Anyways Oh man that scene at the end it was great! Now that Ryuji heard it from Taiga I just gotta see the next episode but damn the week I have to wait! I think I’ll go watch that great scene a few more times now.

Ironically Yui Horie (voice of Minori) was a voice actor in higurashi too =D (as hanyuu lol….kinda thinking about it Minori pissed off reminded me of Hanyuu in the last episode of Higurashi Kei).

Have to watch the next one now D: Can’t wait for another week T^T. Taiga~~~

I just hope that they don’t drag this along, since Taiga was half-concious in the moment of the confession, I’m sure when she gets better she will go back to her old “support RyuujixMinori” pretense. And probably Takasu will continue wondering what to do before she gets better and after it too. >.>

I’m a bit surprised they didn’t find Taiga right after they noticed she was missing, and that she managed to stay awake after getting buried in that snow. ^^; Much dorama, but still awesome nonetheless. I’m eager to see the next episodes. And with only a few episodes left, I really hope that they manage to end it well. Might have to pick up the light novels otherwise (unless they decide to make a season 2…)

PS: Adorable DVD extra. Hopefully it gets subbed too. ^_^

Sorry for the double post, but I take back what I said about a probable season 2… I just read that the light novels are supposed to end this March. I guess the anime ending would be quite definite then, if they’re consulting the author about the story. ^^

Hahahah I get your “Hana yori Dango” comment down there. (going into the snow to look for your lost loved one)

This episode was great, in my opinion. Since Minori said it herself, she was conceited. I imagine she felt pretty proud but also pretty bad that Ryuuji liked her and she probably knew much earlier on. Man, I thought it was kinda cocky of her to tell Ami she’s just jealous. That stings and that fact that it’s true doesn’t help.

It hit the fan this week, folks.
