Summary:

When Zastin is alerted of an approaching ship in space, he quickly goes down to Earth to pick up Lala. Zastin lands in the middle of the school pool while Rito and the others continue their usual antics, then surprising everyone by revealing several of Lala’s true positions. Rito is more shocked, however, when the girls around simply accept that Lala is an alien. In fact, they find it more logical because of her previous unbelievable actions. Zastin quickly ports Rito and Lala up into his ship, but Haruna is confused when she is taken as well. Zastin eventually explains that Lala must meet with royalty known as Kata from the planet Baroz, and that he wanted Rito and Haruna participate in the formalities. Changing into impressive sets of clothing, the group meets with Kata as he and Lala begin to dance. When Rito overhears Kata mention the phrase “space’s best”, he quickly remembers Gid’s words. With this, the group travels to the planet Kari to participate in the challenge that would grant this title.

On the savage planet, Rito is forced to run from several beasts. Haruna is eventually captured by a large gorilla, which Rito is unable to save her from. A group of women seemingly aid Rito eventually, but they reveal that they only have interest in taking him. The leader of these women introduces her group as the Amazoness, then declaring that they will take Rito as their son-in-law. Rito is unable to retaliate while being taken to the group’s village, but Lala suddenly appears before the leader can advance on him. Despite doing very well against the women, even Lala is taken down when her tail is grabbed. Haruna appears afterwards, and with the help of Kong who she had convinced earlier, she successfully saves Rito. When Rito gets closer to Haruna, however, Kong throws him off into the distance in annoyance. Haruna is quickly angered by this, easily having Kong search for Rito again. When Kata witnesses this, he rewards Haruna with the title of “space’s number one”. Haruna almost believes that these events were a dream when she wakes the next day, but seeing the trophy she received, she quickly realizes that this isn’t the case.

Preview: Beach episode and more Run.

Impression:

Sorry, I’ve really been wanted to say that for the past month. I’ve been expressing my hesitation about continuing to cover this show for a few weeks now, and I’ve received quite a few wishes that I would keep at it (probably because of the lack of coverage this show is getting in general), but I’ve just had it. I didn’t have high expectations for this show before it started, and although I did accept it after watching the first few episodes, I quickly realized that this show would turn out to be even less than I hoped for it to be. Probably the only reason I was able to keep talking about it until now was because of my very low show count last season. Now, it’s not that I won’t finish this show. I’ll probably end up completing it like I do with most other bad lovcoms that I can’t seem to give up. But I have pretty much lost any and all motivation I once had to write about it.

The series is simply plagued with problems, all of which I’ve mentioned several times already. The animation is hardly up to standard, and the “plot” has been overshadowed by episodic tales of alien invasions that I really don’t care about. Several people have expressed how much they like the manga, even giving me a few chapters to sample, and I will agree that it is much better than what I have seen so far. But even without having read the manga, it is obvious how bad of an adaption this is. Why are characters introduced, then quickly cast aside for throw away characters who only appear in one episode!? Unfortunately, as much as I tried to defend Xebec before, I’m starting to turn my back to them. This episode only made my impression of the series worse, and it is now certain that I will be dropping coverage for this show. I deeply apologize to those who wanted me to continue blogging it. For now, Random Curiosity and THAT Anime Blog still have writers that can stomach this. Please turn to them for further coverage.

Summary:

Rito continues to ponder how difficult it would be to become number one in the universe. After going through a few simulations in his head, he decides to take a run. While outside, Rito meets Haruna by coincidence. Sitting down with her, he expresses his need to change. It was Gin’s words that made him realize this, and he believed that he could come up with an answer for himself if he worked at it. This would include his choice between Haruna and Lala. Believing that what Rito is doing is quite admirable, Haruna wonders if she can cheer him on. Rito agrees, before parting ways with her. Rito doesn’t tell Lala about Haruna once he reaches home, or the next day at school. Believing that they share a secret between each other, Rito declares he will do his best with Haruna’s support. Throughout the following days, Rito continues to meet Haruna during his runs. As this makes him very happy, Rito believes it would be nice to continue his days like this.

On a rainy day, Rito is surprised that Haruna still chose to meet him. Haruna wonders if she could make Rito a lunch on the following Sunday, making Rito start to believe that this is something like a promise for a date. While Haruna looks through a cookbook at home, her older sister guesses that she is preparing for a date. She also makes Haruna realize that she has started to change recently. When Rito gets to have Haruna’s homemade meal that Sunday, he is overjoyed. When Haruna expresses her gladness, Rito is only able to believe that she is unbelievably cute. Rito and Haruna’s conversation is soon interrupted when Haruna’s dog falls into the nearby river. Rito is successfully able to save it, but Haruna worries when she sees Rito’s now drenched clothes. With this, she invites him to her nearby home.

Rito is unable to believe the situation he is in once he reaches Haruna’s home, even using her bath. While Haruna washes his clothes, Rito ends up in Haruna’s room with just a towel on. Haruna explains that she lives alone with her sister in the apartment, but Rito is further shocked to learn that her sister is out with friends that day. When Rito notices that Haruna has pictures from their middle school days in her room, the two get in another friendly conversation. Haruna trips while going to check on Rito’s clothes later, and when Rito attempts to help her, the two only get in a suggestive situation. Rito almost takes advantage of the position he is in, but he runs out of the house in panic when Haruna’s older sister returns to see them. By the time Rito reaches home, he is already in deep despair about the situation he is now in.

ED: “kissの行方” by Anna – I like the new ED a lot more than the last one. It’s much more stylish and well done, though I am surprised that it focuses purely on Haruna.

Preview: Back to the alien antics.

Impression:

Talk about bad timing. The end of this episode was so predictable, yet it gets me every time. I actually thought this episode was pretty good, in that it actually had some continuity from the last episode. It was the romantic conflicts between the girls around Rito, Haruna and Lala in particular, that first caught my attention in the first place. I just don’t understand why it can’t focus more on that, rather than the pointless and uninteresting alien invasion arcs. Things like Mikan’s reaction to Rito in the bathroom were also a riot. Her indifferent reactions are definitely one of the things that makes her so win. I liked the introduction of Haruna’s older sister as well, since she did help a bit in character development. Things I could have gone without though, were the pointless recaps in the beginning of the episode and the bad art and animation throughout. “Dead eyes” syndrome is always so easy to notice. Next week doesn’t look like it will impress me that much, and with the last batch of new shows airing around that time, I’m not sure if I’ll continue blogging this after that.

Summary:

A planet full of warriors is shocked when they are overtaken by a single alien before them. This person is none other than Gid Lucione Deviluke. At school, Rito experiences his days as usual. After bumping into Haruna, several of the other girls appear to interrupt them. When Lala enters, her device removes all of their clothes. When Rito wakes on a later day, he finds that Zastin is having breakfast in his house yet again. Zastin takes the chance to discuss something with Rito this time, however, warning him about the message he received earlier. This had come from Gid Luclone, Lala’s father. He had planned on visiting Earth to see Lala’s fiance, but instructed Zastin not to tell this to Lala and the others. With this warning in mind, Rito imagines what Gid would be like while walking to school with Lala. Believing that Gid would not take a liking to him, Rito decides that he should just properly explain his feelings to him. This makes him wonder what his feelings really are, however, as Haruna appears to greet him. Rito thinks to himself in class that, although things had changed, Lala’s arrival in his life actually made things quite enjoyable. Lurking from above, a blonde woman puts a grin on her face.

Saki appears in class later with her usual challenges. When Yui stands in to defend Rito and Lala, she is quickly bound in rope by Saki’s followers. This causes the usual trouble, especially when one of Lala’s devices cuts open her clothes in an attempt to help her. Rito uses his body to cover Yui, which she accepts despite her earlier resistance, and Haruna eventually appears to lend a jacket to her. Rito runs into trouble with Run and Yami later as well, resulting in Rito’s usual punishment. Throughout all of these events, the blonde woman continues to watch. Rito helps Haruna with school duties later, thanking her for the help earlier. Rito begins to apologize for all the trouble that has been caused ever since Lala has appeared, but Haruna also believes that there were certain things to be happy about because of this. Rito again tries to get his feelings across to Haruna, but this time, he is interrupted by being called to the school rooftop over intercom.

Rito meets Mikado on the school rooftop, as well as the blonde woman who had been watching him throughout the day. When Mikado leaves, the woman quickly starts getting attached to Rito. She shows him pictures of all the embarrassing situations he had gotten into throughout the day, then trying to seduce him. She faints upon the appearance of Gin, however, who Rito finally realizes is Lala’s father after seeing his tail. Rito begins to explain that he did not purposely do such things to all of the girls during the day, but he is surprised when Gin describes these actions as wrong. Gin then begins to ask what Rito has to offer for Lala, and when Rito cannot answer, Gin quickly threatens him with his power. Rito holds on to Gin when he imagines what would happen to all of his friends if the attack succeeded, and before Gin can finish him off, Lala appears to stop him. Lala disagrees with Gin’s descriptions of Rito, revealing all of his good qualities and calling him her important person. With this, Gin decides to give Rito time. He makes him promise that he would become worthy of Lala. Rito locks himself in his room that night, only recalling Gin’s challenge for him to become number one in the galaxy. Quickly coming to a conclusion and showing himself to Lala and the rest of the family, he states that he will do what he can as a man. With this, he believes he may find some of the answers he is looking for.

Preview: wth?

Kamehameha! NO! I won’t let you destroy the Earth!!! You know, it may be the rock bottom expectations I now have for this show, but I thought this episode was a lot better than the last. It seems like the reason would be its following of the plot set up in the manga, since like many of you have been telling me, the anime has taken several detours with filler. It was nice to see many of the girls make appearances too, which again, was something I was complaining about earlier. I also thought Lala’s father was pretty hilarious. There’s really no way to deny that this character was based off of “the strongest being in the universe”. I mean, I’m pretty sure we all know that is Goku. Lala’s love power was pretty sweet too, and Mikan screen time increases my enjoyment by five times no matter what. I have no idea what to expect next week though, and with the new season coming quick, I will definitely have to make the decision whether to stop blogging this show or not somewhat soon.

Summary:

Lala notices that Rito is in a good mood in the morning, as he imagines gaining Haruna’s favor by winning events at the upcoming sports festival. During his distraction, however, Rito causes Haruna embarrassment as usual. As the sports festival begins, Saki takes the chance to swear she will beat Lala. The principal then leads stretches for the students, but it is obvious that he is just having the girls make suggestive moves. As the boys start the first race, Ren challenges Rito for Lala once again. When the boys look at what they must retrieve for the race, however, all of them find that their goals are impossible. Lala has one of her devices assist Rito in preforming the embarrassing act of grabbing Haruna’s shorts, but this only results in his being slapped by Haruna once again. When the girls have their race, they find that they actually end up in dramatic situations for their challenge. Most of the girls fail to pass, but Lala successfully crosses the goal.

Saki prepares to challenge Lala again during the next race, but she discovers that she is not actually participating. Rito, on the other hand, can only worry about regaining Haruna’s trust. Yui leads the red team in the relay race, but Ren is missing when she must transfer the baton. Ren suddenly returns from his journey from earlier, however, taking the baton and running at full speed. Ren cannot slow down before passing off to Rito, so he throws the massive sword in his hand. This causes a huge crack in the school grounds, however, which Rito almost falls into. Haruna reaches out to help Rito, but when he accidentally grabs onto one of her boobs, she ends up slapping him into the hole.

One of the members for Haruna’s team becomes injured because of the disaster, so Rito replaces him for the next event. Finally able to challenge Lala again, Saki has a large pool of water emerge from the ground. This leads to everyone switching to bathing suits, as they begin the event. Saki soon reveals her secret weapon, a bathing suit cutter, as it proceeds to tear apart all of the girl’s swimsuits in the area. When Lala’s is cut, however, she simply has it replaced by Peke. When Haruna is knocked unconscious by the weapon in its more destructive state, Rito quickly carries her to the infirmary. Saki believes she will defeat Lala in her distraction, but her weapon turns on her at the last second. Rito takes the chance to apologize to Haruna in the infirmary when she wakes, and he is relieved to find that she is not angry at him. When the ground around them begins to shake, however, Rito again gets in awkward situations with Haruna. Lala soon shows up to greet the two, getting the usual reactions.

Preview: Back to the “plot”….?

Impression:

Okay, I’m going to be completely honest. I’m beginning to lose all that is left of my enthusiasm for this show. I mean, I know lovcoms can typically be pretty plotless, but episodes like this are just ridiculous. It was random, not funny, and not even particular fun to watch. Rito getting in trouble with Haruna made me giggle a little bit, but this gag only works a few times before getting extremely old. The way episodes are flowing is just terrible too, with scenes rapidly moving without any development. Besides that, I’m simply getting tired of the sloppy animation. Again, small things like this just kill any aesthetic the show would actually have if it had done it in other ways. And, for a school sports festival episode, this episode was even kind of tame. Maybe I’ve just been watching too much Kanokon? Anyways, I’m going to give this a few more episodes. If it cannot redeem itself in any way after that, I might actually end up dropping a show for the first time in a long time.

Summary:

When a young girl lands on Earth, she can only observe how peaceful of a planet it is. At home, Mikan realizes that she had forgotten to tell Rito to buy something while he is out shopping. Lala states that she will go tell him since she needed to buy something too, but Zastin is worried that she wants to buy something useless again. When Rito meets Haruna in the city, he takes the chance to help her with her own shopping. When Lala meets with friends afterwards, however, Rito leaves her in order to do his own purchasing. After buying some taiyaki, Rito sees the girl from earlier looking at him. Believing that she is actually looking at the taiyaki that he bought, he offers some to her. After eating it, however, the girl expresses that she has been searching for Rito. When the girl’s arm turns into a blade, Rito realizes that she is an alien.

Rito runs from the girl as she attempts to kill him, but she finally corners him. Before her blade can cut Rito, however, Zastin appears to save him. Lala appears as Zastin engages in combat with the girl, and Mikado shows up to tell them that the girl’s name is Golden Darkness (Konjiki no Yami). After telling them that Yami is an assassin, however, Mikado simply leaves. Because of one of his usual mishaps, Zastin is taken out of his battle with Yami. When Yami goes for Rito next, Lala decides to stand against her. Lala runs from Yami as she constantly changes her body’s form, but she finally takes the chance to send a counterattack with her own weapons. Lala seemingly captures Yami when she is distracted by the school principal, but she easily escapes afterwards. Yami wonders why Lala is going so far to protect Rito, when she had heard that he planned to marry her for evil intentions. Lala convinces Yami that Rito is not this kind of person, but she is unable to stop the job that she has already accepted. Yami believes that Lala would never understand her, but Lala agrees by stating that she left her planet to learn all of the things she did not know.

A ship soon appears in the sky, and Lala recognizes its passenger as an alien named Lakospo. She easily sees that he had lied to Yami to get closer to her, but she refuses to marry him like all of the rest. Seeing that Lakospo had given her incorrect information, Yami quickly turns on him. Yami is almost overtaken by the creature that Lakospo summons against her, but Lala and Rito stand in front of her to protect her from its attacks. When Lakospo threatens Rito, Lala sends him back into space with her own attacks. When Yami wonders why Lala saved her, she states that it is unforgivable for Lakospo to do such things to a cute girl. Yami is touched to be called as such, then deciding to stay on Earth with Rito and Lala for the time being.

Preview: School sports festival.

Impression:

This episode needed more Sonic Form…..or maybe Witchblade? Lakospo totally reminded me of Garlic Jr. too. After doing a bit more research, Yami seems to have a lot of similarities with the character Eve from Black Cat as well. Both characters are even played by Fukuen Misato (Patty in Devil May Cry, Yin in Darker than Black). Putting all the random similarities to the side, Yami was pretty win. I guess this probably only makes Rito’s harem even bigger, but it’s never too bad to have more lolis. One complaint I do have about this series though, is that characters seem to be cast aside after being introduced for the most part. It just kind of makes everything episodic, and it’s really lame not seeing a new character again after she has been introduced. I’m also having some problems with the presentation of each episode. Small things like having absolutely no bgm track in scenes just makes things boring when they would otherwise be pretty funny. I guess I’ll just have to try to stay enthusiastic about this show though, since I have no intentions of dropping it as of now. Next week is the typical sports festival episode. Time for more fanservice?

Summary:

Rito walks in on Haruna while she is changing in the classroom, but instead of becoming mad at Rito, she insists that he take responsibility for making her feel so embarrassed. Of course, this is only part of Rito’s dreams. When Rito wakes, he finds that Lala is having dreams about him in his bed. Rito worries about this as usual while sitting alone in the park later, but his attention is brought elsewhere when he sees Zastin walking with a short female alien. Following them, he finds that Zastin leads the alien to his house. Mikan answers the doorbell during breakfast, and Lala quickly introduces the alien as the chairman of her fan club while Rito arrives behind. Although Rito does not wish to hear about it, the chairman quickly describes the work she does as the manager of Lala’s fan club. When Lala finally asks why she has come to earth, the chairman requests that Lala go into space to create an idol CD. However, Lala refuses to leave Earth and Rito. The fan club’s chairman is brought to despair for a few days, but she finally confronts Rito. Without Lala’s knowledge, she asks for Rito to take responsibility for what he has done.

The fan club chairman travels around the city with Rito later, but she does not accept any of his suggestions for possible replacements. She eventually senses what she believes to be a golden egg, but Rito panics when he finds out that this leads them to Haruna’s household. Rito does not approve of any of the chairman’s suggestions for Haruna, but she still insists on taking her to space. Rito prevents the chairman from taking hold of Haruna while following her throughout the city, but Haruna constantly misunderstands the situation. After returning home, the chairman is forced to think of alternatives. Mikan starts to believe it would be interesting to do an act in space, so the chairman becomes excited about starting a sibling show. She becomes even more excited when Lala suggests that she would join, but her thoughts are interrupted by an urgent call from her company. With this, she is forced to leave back to space empty handed.

Preview: Fighting loli girl.

Impression:

You’re not Impz! …You know, I might just be starting to lose my patience after this episode. Not that it was that bad, but it just felt like the whole episode was full of…….nothing. The fan club chairman just didn’t enthuse me very much either. The alien thing is becoming far to episodic, especially with the little development we’re getting. The random situations she created for the girls were fun though, and Lala stepping on her was pretty <strike>hot</strike> funny. I always laugh when these manager type characters always mention things like Golden eggs too. This isn’t Shugo Chara! The constant gags dealing with Haruna were pretty hilarious as well, especially towards the end. Wouldn’t a girl usually ask what the heck Rito was doing?? Other than that, more Mikan screen time was the only thing keeping my attention. Next week has the introduction of yet another new character. It seems like these are the only episodes where I can really enjoy myself so far, so hopefully it will be lots of fun….especially with this show carrying on to the next season.

Summary:

An alien lands in various places on the planet, but he continually finds that he has landed in the wrong places. Although the women are alerted in each area, they are surprised at how handsome the invader is. Rito meanwhile feels as if he has a cold in the morning, so Lala takes him to the school infirmary. When she finds that the nurse is not there, she attempts to help Rito herself. The school nurse, Mikado Ryouko, arrives to finally help Rito soon afterwards. In class, Saruyama takes the chance to tell Rito how many people are attracted to Mikado-sensei. Even the principal visits Mikado for a check up to get closer to her, though she easily prevents him from jumping on her. Rito continues to feel chills later, but this time, the alien successfully lands in Lala’s vicinity. Lala does not remember meeting the alien in the past as usual, but her memory is slightly refreshed when he states that he is from the planet Kirasei. After the alien introduces himself as Pikari, he seems to leave. However, his crashing back on Earth sends Rito away. Pikari attempts to take Lala away with his rocket suit, but she easily escapes. Afterwards, she and Peke attempt to find Rito.

Pikari cannot make his suit operate later than night, making him powerless against those who offend him. When he remembers the promises he left his parents with, he is put to tears. When Pikari meets Ren during one of his runs, he begs for his help. Believing that a man would not leave someone so troubled behind, Ren promises to assist Pikari. When Rito expresses how cold he is inside his house later, Lala realizes that Pikari is approaching. Before Pikari can get close to Lala in his now working suit, she smacks him away with one of her devices. Despairing again, Pikari remembers the wishes his siblings had for him before took off on his journey. When Zastin finds Pikari in his wounded state, he directs him to a location to find help. Pikari is surprised to see the mark he sees on the door at the entrance of that location, and he enters to meet Mikado. Mikado directs Pikari to a healing system in her room, and although he is surprised to see it there, Pikari happily agrees to enter.

Lala and Rito visit the infirmary on another day, finding that Mikado is not there again. Pikari invades this time, taking Lala while trapping Rito. When Mikado appears, however, she quickly subdues Pikari. After sending Pikari back into space, Mikado reveals that she is also an alien. Rito is shocked, but Mikado expresses that there are actually aliens all over the world. Her job is to help them. When Pikari crashes back on his home planet, he is welcomed back by his father. In the meantime, Zastin visits Mikado with his troubles as he typically does.

Preview: Mikan and space idols.

Impression:

Somebody saaaaavvvvveeeee mmeeeeee…..hahaha. Sorry, the first scene totally gave me vibes of that show. I used to really enjoy Smallville, until they started rehashing the story over and over. Speaking of rehashing, this episode was full of it. Not only the scenes, but the jokes and set ups were all repetitive. Adding that with a very uninteresting rocket boy character and a forced plot, I really couldn’t find myself enjoying this episode that much. I guess there were some slightly important things to point out though. Pikari was seemingly played by Miki Shinichiro (Takumi in Initial D, Urahara in Bleach, and Lockon Stratos in Gundam 00 among others). I found it really odd for him to play such a role, but I guess it’s as fitting as Zastin’s seiyu. I kind of spoiled myself half way through the episode about Mikado as well, since I read up on her background while I was looking up her name. I guess it wasn’t really that shocking that she was an alien. Her bandage usage reminded me a lot of Wilhelmina! Also, Lala’s using a racket to send Pikari flying totally reminded me of Peach’s moves in Smash Bros (Yea, I use Peach…). Next week looks like it has more Mikan, so it should automatically be better.

Summary:

Lala finds that Rito is being slow to get ready for school in the morning, so she uses a magnet device to pull him to her. This causes a very awkward situation for Haruna, however, resulting in another slap in the face for Rito. Run appears soon after, wishing to give Rito another kiss. This is followed by Saki’s entrance, ready for a challenge for Lala. After all of this, a girl named Kotegawa Yui introduces herself. She expresses her distaste in the current events, putting most of the blame on Rito. Yui soon finds that most of the girls are not listening to her, however, when Run suddenly sneezes. With this, Ren reappears to make the situation even more awkward.

During class, Yui continues to see Rito as the cause of all the school’s atmosphere changes. She soon gathers a council to change the school’s policies, resulting in many changes to its regulations. One day while a group of girls discusses the length of their skirts, Lala decides to help by using another one of her devices. When Yui attempts to stop Lala from bringing such items to school, however, it takes effect on her. As Lala’s magnet device appears as well, an awkward situation is caused between Rito and Yui. With this being the last straw, Yui seeks out the principal to take action.

Later, Rito finds that he is forced to stay in an empty classroom by himself. As he is isolated, Yui believes the problems at school would be solved. However, some of the boys only see this as a chance to get closer to Lala. As Saki brings up another challenge for Lala later, Yui realizes that nothing has changed with Rito gone. Watching as a depressed Rito goes home, Yui starts to feel as if she would regret if she was mistaken. Throughout the afternoon, Yui watches as Rito preforms good deeds throughout town. When Yui sees Rito attempting to help a young girl find her mother, she decides to help. Meanwhile, realizing that Rito is feeling down, Lala comes up with a plan. Gathering with her friends, Lala decides to hold a party to brighten Rito’s mood. The girls wonder if he is allowed to talk to girls outside of school, or if they would even be able to find him at the moment, but Lala does not believe this is a problem.

After Rito and Yui find the young girl’s mother, they start to walk home together. Looking at Rito, Yui feels her heart thump a bit. Yui finally takes the chance to apologize to Rito, taking the sign off of him and telling him of her mistakes. Rito is surprised to hear what Yui thought of him, but even more worried about the strange feeling he has. As Lala’s magnet is pulling at him again, Rito ends up running while carrying Yui all the way to Lala. Of course, Lala and the others believe that Rito and Yui have finally gotten along when they see them together. When Rito and Lala get in another embarrassing situation at school later, however, things return to the way they were before.

Preview: …..What?

Impression:

Another student council type appears! Would that be the best way to describe Yui? Either way, this episode was hilarious. It definitely redeemed this show for me after last week’s rather mediocre episode. As typical as it was, I loved Yui’s actions towards isolating Rito. The awkward situations were repetitive, but I actually laughed at them every time. Even better was Yui’s starting to gain feelings for Rito towards the end of the episode. Love power! Rito did end up looking like a spineless wimp though…<strike>and a pedo</strike>. What’s new? The movie was pretty funny too. It was even worse than engrish! Also, at this point, I don’t even know what to think about Lala’s friends. Are they surprised about Lala’s strange devices or not? Haruna and Yui pass out, but if it was me, I’d be like “Dude, wtf?” Next week looks more episodic, but hopefully it will surprise me. It looks like the principal will be failing hard as usual though.

Summary:

Rito worries about being late in the morning, even though Lala has already gone ahead. While running to school, he notices a girl standing to the side while wearing a boy’s uniform. Rito warns the girl that she will be late, but she assures him that she will be alright. At the school, a boy named Ren Elsie Jewelria is introduced to Rito’s class. The girls around go wild after seeing his appearance, but the class is quickly shocked when he states that he has found his bride in Lala. Ren quickly challenges Rito, but he is put in despair when Lala does not remember who he is. When Saruyama questions Ren’s relationship with Lala, he quickly shows how much time he had spent with Lala during their childhood. Lala quickly remembers that he was a crybaby, as Ren also recalls the experiments he had went through for Lala’s sake. One day in the past, Lala had agreed to marry Ren if he had become manlike. Lala cannot really remember this promise, but Ren is quick to challenge Rito again.

Throughout the day, Ren proves his manliness to Rito and those around him. When he asks Lala for her opinion, however, he is put into despair that she states that she doesn’t really know. Rito thinks about what would happen if Ren were to take Lala back to space later, but he is interrupted by Ren who wishes to talk to him. Before that, however, Ren accidentally kisses Rito because of Saruyama bumping into him. On the school rooftop, Ren wonders if Rito is hiding any secrets to becoming manly from him. Of course, Rito does not think Ren is going about things the right way and simply leaves him to despair to himself. Ren later asks girls around the school about their opinion on manliness, but when he applies all of their suggestions, Lala only thinks he has become interesting. Ren draws his inspiration from a manly film afterwards, resulting in his obtaining of fame and recognition.

When Rito suggests that Lala go ahead and tell Ren that he is manly to stop him from going any further, she replies that this would be fine. When Ren receives Lala’s invitation, however, he does not believe he is ready. Ren participates in even more events, such as racing, boxing, and running, obtaining even more fame afterwards. When he finally meets Lala to receive her statement, however, a sneeze makes him reveal his true from. In fact, Ren was actually the girl that Rito had run past in the morning previously. Of course, Lala is unable to claim that a girl is manly.

Preview: Kotegawa Yui.

Impression:

……WHAT!? Okay, I thought the girl introduced in the beginning and flies hinted towards something, but I was not expecting the end of this episode at all. I love how it just cuts off too. I did laugh at a lot of the parodies in this episode, especially the Rocky one, but I honestly thought this episode was the weakest out of all the ones so far. Watching Ren’s mission to become manly just wasn’t that funny, and it felt like most of this episode was simply wasted. The engrish and ending revelations had to be the best parts of this episode, but really, the first step to being manly would be to stop using “boku” right? Also, the overuse of fog to block out scenes is really funny. Next week looks like the start of more school antics and another new character. Hopefully it will be a lot more interesting than this one.

Summary:

Zastin is alerted in space about a ship that is headed towards Earth. He already suspects that the pilot is after Lala, but he puts his hopes on Rito to take care of the situation. When the alien invader lands on earth, he quickly searches for a bathroom. After taking care of his business, he quickly begins to search for Lala at the school he has landed at. When the invader sees Lala inside a classroom, he quickly realizes that Rito is her fiance. After watching for a bit longer, he realizes that Rito is more interested in Haruna than Lala. The invader meets the school’s principal afterwards, taking the chance to transform and replace him. Disguised as the principal, the invader demands for Haruna to come with him during the lunch break. He has Saruyama tell Rito about this in the meantime, but when Rito hears about this on the school rooptop, he has Saruyama stay with Lala while he goes to meet Haruna.

Rito finds that the principal is holding Haruna hostage when he finds the two, but the alien quickly reveals himself. Further more, he reveals his plans on marrying Lala in order to obtain power. Lala notices how long Rito is taking in the meantime, so Peke makes her realize that he is probably not in the bathroom as he claimed to be. Although Lala trusts Rito’s words, she has one of her dog devices search for his scent. The alien further threatens Rito by pulling apart at Haruna’s clothes in the gym locker, but Lala appears just in time. She reveals that the alien’s name is Giburi, someone that she has refused numerous times in the past. Giburi then transforms into a much larger form, threatening Lala and Rito by taking hold of Haruna again. Rito declares that he will defeat Giburi, and when he prepares to lay a punch on him, he realizes that Giburi is actually quite afraid of him. Giburi reverts to his true form after one of Rito’s screams, revealing that he is actually quite small.

Lala and Peke explain Giburi’s ability to Rito afterwards, and the group finds that the principal has also been trapped in the room. Giburi’s wife then appears, along with her son. She then reveals how Giburi has traveled throughout space to obtain different wives and children, as many of the said aliens appear. Using another one of her devices, Lala has all of the aliens transported back into space. Rito finds that Haruna is okay afterwards, but he has Lala take care of her out of embarrassment. While Zastin is enjoying a bath in his ship later, the aliens that Lala has transported appear to disrupt him. When Haruna wakes up in the school infirmary, she finds Lala by her side. However, Lala reveals that it was actually Rito who saved her. In the meantime, the school principal and Saruyama both enjoy themselves in strange ways.

Preview: Lala’s childhood friend and a boxing match.

Impression:

Masochism!? I guess this episode has some things in common with me….you know, since I’m watching this show. Er…but really, tentacle rape? What’s with the love comedy/fanservice shows this season? They’re so dirty! There were some funny parts in this episode though, as long as you could get past how disturbing some of them were. Lala’s chasing after Rito to perform an “autopsy” was pretty funny, and it almost made me want to throw out yet another School Days joke. Giburi reminded me of Cell from DBZ when he transformed too, not to mention how stereotypical and dumb his copying technique was. I also didn’t notice until this episode that Zastin had a tail as well. That weirds me out even more than Lala’s tail does. Even more characters are showing up next week, staying true to the cookie cutter format that most lovcoms have. …How about that Haruna fanservice?
