Another season, another clear slate to fill up with anime. My original plan was to do my usual lazy impression post, but after coming up with things to say for a large mass of the new shows coming out, I’ve decided to do a season preview for only the second time since last fall. There’s a LOT of new shows coming out this season, but having reached the point where I cannot cover 7-9 shows a week anymore, I’m going to have to play the pick and choose game this time around. Anyways, let’s get on to it!

Summary: Takasu Ryuji has a gentle personality, but because of the frightening eyes that he inherited from his father, he comes off as intimidating to most people. Aisaka Taiga has a bad reputation as the most dangerous girl at school. When these two meet through certain circumstances, they discover that they both have crushes on each other’s friends. Further more, Taiga lives next door to Ryuji! The two begin to help each other find love, but this makes rumors generate throughout the school…

Impression: So I heard everyone is going to watching this. I guess I’m an everyone. I’ve absolutely loved what I’ve read in the manga that this will be adapted from, and I have very high hopes from J.C. Staff’s production and the strong voice cast. This is the type of love comedy I like. Not excessive in fanservice, extremely funny, and involving a great romance story that can actually be related to real life situations. OP: “Tomadoi Bitter Tune” by Miran Himemiya and Chocolate Rockers – I don’t think the OP is bad at all. I like how some of it is presented, like with the magazine going through a Photoshop type program at the start. Other than that, it’s pretty standard stuff though. Read more

OP: “Issei no Koe (一斉の声)” by Shūhei Kita – The song is like soft pop/rock. It’s not something I would usually listen to, but it was pretty fitting for this OP. I’m not extremely impressed with the animation, since it’s kind of plain, but there’s nothing particularly bad about it either. Read more

Well, it’s that time again. The summer season will be upon us in a few days, and I’m a lot more excited about it than I was about the spring one. I already see a few shows that I’m sure to watch, and just a couple more that look really interesting. As usual, I won’t be doing a real season preview. Soul Eater: Hey, I like shounen! I mean, I watch Bleach! (because my dumb American friends do.) I watched Naruto! (until it went to hell with curry of life bs.) I was totally into D.Grey Man! (for 12 episodes….) Okay, but seriously, I did have fun with this episode. I really love the typical dark pop feel that it has, and BONES producing it definitely helps. I’m a sucker for this kind of style, which is why I get absorbed into these kinds of shows sometimes. I’m already liking Maka a lot, and this was all around pretty fun to watch. You’re freaking nuts if you think I’m going to blog a shounen though, let alone a show that will be airing for a full year. Maybe I’d do it if all of you donated five dolla to ABnet to save all the blogging children in need. Yea, all 6,000+ of you. Read more
